This app is in need of a serious update
I enjoy writing in Celtx. I find it paginates well, writing is seamless, and I find I am most productive using it vs other screenwriting apps. That said, Final Draft 11, HIghland 2, and Slugline have dark modes but Celtx for desktop doesn't? Yeah, it's time to catch up. I understand they're more focused on the web browser version these days and their "Screenplay Offline Mode" (whatever that means) but I don't think it's asking for much to add some new features for everyone who already purchased this version of Celtx. Dark mode should also be an option for anyone using the app in full screen or not. Just a kind FYI.
Not bad for the price
I had to buy this after the Catlina update and it's not bad for the price. It takes some effort to import old celtx files from the free 32 bit version, you have to upload to the cloud services and then download to your computer which can be a bit annoying instead of just being backwords compatiable with the older version, but other than that I'm glad there is a script software that you don't need to pay for a license every month.
Better After Update, Still Needs UI Work
It has gotten better with the past update, and for that I commend the developers. It is almost exactly what I am looking for in a screenwriting app. If the developers could please clean up the user interface, then the application (stability pending) will be my go to application.
Mainly the ability to disable the ruler (and improve the look when on in full-screen mode). Retina icons and elements are a must. The ability to disable the box surrounding the text area. The ability to change icons to text buttons. The ability to customize the toolbar. Also, I sometimes have a mouse attached to my laptop, and because of this, I am forced to have scroll bars on my page that is sitting in the center of my 15 inch screen. Could scroll bars be moved the edges of the window instead of the edges of the page? All of these things would greatly improve the user experience with the application.
That said, good work so far.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
