GAY DATING: SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, FRIENDLY TERMS, YOUR TERMS
“Chappy’s mission is to provide gay men with a safe, welcoming, and high-quality platform” - HuffPost
Chappy is the space for gay connection. We’re on a mission to go beyond stereotypes and encourage authenticity in dating and friendship. With features like account verification, mandatory face pics, Instagram integration, and user code of conduct, it’s one giant leap for kind men. The app has different modes for different kinds of matches:
Connect in COMMITMENT - Embark on an exploration. It could become something serious.
Match in CASUAL - It might be light speed, but it’ll be seriously fun. Winky face.
Stargaze in ALL DATING - Go along for the ride! Match with people in Commitment or Casual.
This is a totally separate mode in the app. Whether you’re in a new city or you feel like the only one in your hometown, make a friend on Chappy.

Ratings and Reviews
Form Over Function
Chappy is an exceptional gay dating app that I’d recommend to just about anyone. While it’s far from the most innovative, Chappy treads the well-worn territory of swipe-matching interactions with style and polish.
This would be an easy 5-star review if not for the conspicuous absence of certain QoL features found in apps like Bumble, Tinder, and Scruff. Filling out a bio is still a completely manual process, and Instagram is the only app you can add to flesh out your profile.
A few more robust filtering options and profile tags could also elevate the experience. Perhaps allowing users to search for friends as opposed to just dates, include basic tags like “vegan” or “no children” on their profiles, and/or specify preferred kink/fetish communities in matches could bring this up to a perfect score.
In the meantime though, it’s far from a bad choice for queer folks with #relationshipgoals.
Decent app for gays
Chappy isn’t bad as far as gay dating apps go. It seems to be a step above the hook up oriented apps like Grindr and Scruff, but not quite as great as Tinder, OK Cupid, and Bumble for me. It operates more in the same swipe manner like Tinder and Bumble, which means no one can message someone unless you’re a match. I love that feature as I usually receive quite a bit of messages from people on apps, and I’ve never been a fan of just anyone messaging me. The match signifies you are both have interest. I gave this an average of three stars, because the users on this app seem to be on the lazy side. They match and don’t message or message once then drop the ball but stay matched. I receive more engaging users on tinder and bumble. This may not be the case for you, but it is for me. Not sure why, but perhaps Chappy can consider some implementations such as automatically removing a match if after thirty days neither have messaged the other.
Developer Response ,
Hi there, thanks for your feedback! We'll be sure to pass along your thoughts and ideas to our Product Team for consideration. We're always keen to hear user feedback as it helps us be the best that we can be.
I really want to like this app, but the logic they use to try to convince you to keep using it is manipulative. Even if you turn off all the notifications within the app except for actual matches and new messages, you will still see badge notifications and even banners with marketing messages such as “someone just liked you! Open the app and start swiping to find them!” No dude. I’m not that desperate that I need to start furiously swiping to hopefully match with someone who just liked me.
Ploys like that make people hate you. Just provide a good service with better message delivery within the app (which is definitely lacking) and we’ll naturally want to spend more time on the app.
Seriously, fire your marketing team and get rid of the coercive notifications.

Hey there! We're sorry to hear you feel this way. Push notifications are optional and if you do not wish to receive certain notifications, you have the ability to turn them off. We understand you may dislike some notifications so we have fed this back to our Product team to consider changing in future updates! x
