Description

Chargie is an app+hardware phone charge limiting solution that makes your battery last for much longer than if you had charged it regularly to 100% all night, every night

Charging your phone every night to 100% and keeping the battery like this for 8 hours is one of the main culprits behind early battery failure. We're here to change that.

Chargie is an app+hardware phone charge limiting solution that makes your battery last for much longer than if you had charged it regularly to 100% all night, every night.

Here's how it works:

1. For the app to work, you need to get your Chargie USB device from https://chargie.org.
2. Insert the device into your regular charger and the phone cable into Chargie.
3. Install the app on your phone.
4. Set the charge percentage you need for the next day.
5. Go to sleep.

Chargie takes control of the power flow following an algorithm that decreases battery temperature and voltage related stress, throughout the 8 hours of nighttime charging.

This will dramatically increase battery and phone lifespan because of the way lithium ion chemistry works.

By charging through a Chargie device, your phone not only lasts for more years, but has also a much lower carbon footprint. Present-day smartphones are still a good fit even after three years, if their performance is not throttled by the OS because of poor battery health.

Moreover, you'll be able to resell your old phone for more when you decide to change it, because it will be Chargie Certified, and this will be a guarantee of the protection of its battery.

We have DHL and UPS shipping available, so shipping takes 3 days at most, in any part of the world, so you can be up and running in no time.

What’s New

Very buggy to use

My family all use a chargie despite the short comings. Bluetooth is finicky but once you find a process to make it connect stick with it. A bit of a hassle each night when I plug it in but at least it keeps the battery from over charging and in the last year it’s done a good job of keeping our batteries in good shape.
However a week ago or so the app updated and it wiped all our settings, schedules etc and over charged our batteries that night. Since the update the chargie now shows the battery percent off by 2% of actual battery charge. Kind of annoying. I keep hoping the app will get worked on and be more seamless or they’d release a version without the annoying Bluetooth and put an actual chip in the chargie to communicate with the phone. I’d gladly pay way more for it to work properly as the concept and idea behind the chargie is awesome.

Also as others have stated make sure and kill the chargie app in the day as it drains the battery and even makes your phone laggy and hang up. I setup a shortcut on iPhone to open the app every time I plug in the power cord but the phone must be unlocked for it to work.

Also we’ve used rental cars that did not have strong enough 12 volt outlets and the chargie would just go into an endless reboot cycle and not charge phone. We had to remove and just leave phone plugged directly in on the road trip.

Superb battery-life extender

Apple’s native battery management is very poor for users with the goal of maximizing battery life, relying primarily on pattern recognition to, very temporarily, go a little easier on the battery in delaying the charge past 80%. My suspicion is that this is to help them moderate battery temperature as much as anything since the straight charge to 100% at max rate, especially if the phone is also updating apps from a mediocre wi-fi signal, can result in a very warm phone. I would never allow my EV battery to be treated the way that Apple insists on treating my phone battery, so Chargie’s multiple, user-controlled metrics are exactly the solution I was looking for. I am very glad that someone found this work-around for the lack of user options that Apple offers for something this significant that impacts the life, expense, and hassle required to use their device.

Needs topup scheduler ASAP

Need the topup scheduler feature on the ios app as soon as possible. Without this, Chargie is arguably making things a little worse than native ios battery management itself, which includes a machine learning feature that effectively does this.

But that ios feature doesn't work anymore with Chargie in the picture - it's not clear if it gets confused by the fact that the phone no longer ever charges to full. This is definitely one of the big downsides of using Chargie and it needs improvement.
