Using digital technology effectively to support teaching, learning and progress
The unique chatta app has been designed specifically to support the chatta teaching process for children in Early Years, with Special Educational Needs, Learning a New Language and developing Oracy Across the Curriculum. The app, developed by award winning teachers, has been created with simplicity and ease of use in mind to help children to become better communicators, writers, readers and thinkers.
The chatta app engages every learner in talk. Combined with the chatta approach the app encourages children to reflect on, review and improve oral language – in a similar way to how written work is redrafted. Adult descriptions provide a powerful model for the children to listen to and allows them to link language to their experiences.
Oral fluency and narrative competence
By linking images and voice recordings, children build up to a deeper understanding of order and sequence, leading to oral fluency and narrative competence. The images and voice recordings also provide a perfect tool for children to rehearse oral narratives for the purpose of reflection and revision for working memory.
Sharing 'chats' with parents and carers
The sharing ‘chats’ feature provides schools with a powerful and dynamic tool for home/school learning. Chats are easily shared with parents and carers and are viewable on any device connected to the internet.
This significant update to Chatta stores all your chats in the cloud allowing seamless access from multiple devices; web, mobile and tablet.
Sharing of chats is quicker than ever.
Lots of further updates are planned for the coming weeks and months including template chats, better chat organisation and new chat features.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
