Description

No subscription needed! The price you pay for ChirpOMatic is a one-off payment with no hidden extras.

ChirpOMatic USA helps you identify North American birds quickly and easily, from the Blackpoll Warbler’s high pitched song to the loud gobble of the Wild Turkey.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Record the bird song or call using your iPhone or iPad.
2. ChirpOMatic analyzes the audio to identify the bird species based on its unique vocalizations.
3. The app gives the name of the bird, or birds.
4. In the case of poorer recordings, the app provides a short list of the most probable birds, ranked according to the likelihood of a correct identification.
5. Access additional information about the identified bird species, including brief descriptions of their song, and details of special features to listen out for.
6. Your recordings are stored on your phone along with the date and location − a great way to listen and remember the moment. Recordings can be shared using AirDrop, WhatsApp, messages or email.

Super fun and helpful

We have a lot of birds in our yard, by design. Recently we’ve acquired a couple new ones and weren’t sure what they were. This app is wonderful once you get to know it. I record the sounds and let it evaluate. It gives me several choices with recordings to choose from. If “that’s not it” there’s an option for that and we record again. I’m building a library in the app of my birds...pretty cool! And so much fun! A glass of wine on the porch and bird watching?!? I swore I’d never!! I do wish however that I could tell it that cardinals are not even close to this region when we have some similar sounds. Otherwise I’m having a lot of chirp fun!

Bird Nerd Alert

I’m a bit of an amateur bird nerd and love the Chirp O Matic app. There are other apps that work I’m similar ways, and I do use them. But one key feature of Chirp O Matic that I LOVE is, there is an Apple Watch version! No others bird ID app that I have found works with my watch. I don’t always take my phone on walks, so it’s nice to be able to quickly ID a bird song from my wrist. (Although it seems to have a bug at the moment.) The only thing I might say needs improvement would be to make the recording times longer. Definitely a must have a birder of any level of experience! Thanks!

PERFECT FOR UNTRAINED BIRD LOVERS

Some birdsongs are obvious, many are not. When you can’t see it but you hear it and you gotta know what it is, this is what you need. On 2 occasions, the app didn’t find it. There is a feature where you can submit for further analysis and you get an email. One turned out to be a squirrel, (stranger than typical squirrel sounds), the other a tree toad (that was apparently up pretty high in a tree). But if it is a real bird, the app will get it; if there are more than one type of bird, it will often nail 2 or 3.
