Description

Chroma, at first glance, might look like any other “colors from images” tool, but it’s not. The magic lies in what it does with the colors it finds.

After identifying the five most distinct colors in an image, Chroma uses an advanced algorithm to emulate the way the human eye perceives color and then creates a palette of natural-looking and complementary colors. The result is a selection of colors that harmonize perfectly, making them perfect to use alongside each other and with the original image.

Copy colors in over ten different formats straight into your text editor, Pages or Word document, presentation or website. Formats include CSS (Hex, RGB, RGBA, HSL, and HSLA), Swift, Objective-C, hex, and the actual color.

The full palette of colors can also be added to your favorite design tools or directly to the Apple Color Picker. The palette can always be used in existing workflows or even be sent out to clients.

What people are saying about Chroma:

“It’s simply brilliant! I especially love that it’s one click to copy the color! ”

“Blooming marvellous”

“W.O.W.!... Chroma’s out of this world!”

Very helpful if you work with Adobe CC suite

This is a very simple tool that will change your color workflow overnight. In the past I had to do a lot of color sampling in Photoshop and then combine and save swatches. Often times I had a huge color palette just to have the flexibility. Now I just color sample the image in Chroma and then save as an ASE file for Adobe. I now keep these palettes in a file folder and replace all the palettes easily (replace swatches with the new selection versus append). You only need to load up only what is relevant.

You can do something similar in Indesign with the color picker tool. But that only gives you five sampled colors - same as Chroma. But Chroma gives you 11 saturations for each of these five colors. Just to have this immediately laid out in your color swatches is a joy. I tested this on an images of a face. I sampled the image and created a (darken) layer to paint with very low opacity with these swatches in Photoshop. It was fantastic. The effect looked very realistic.

Very quick, very simple

I have tried several similar programs but none seemed to be as quick or easy to use. Having the color codes available for the entire range of intensities speeds up workflow. Nice app.
