Description

This app allows you to view and search a collection of photos of the American Civil War, 1861 - 1865, at the Library of Congress and in the public domain. The images are from the original glass plate negatives made under the supervision of Mathew Brady and Alexander Gardner plus additional sources according to the Library of Congress.

On the Main Page, tap a photo thumbnail to view in the Image Page a larger image accompanied by a description and a button to download the jpeg. While viewing the image if you tap the Send Button, you will be able to share the photo via email.

To view a slide show (manual, not automatic) while on the main page, simply tap the 'Slides' button. While viewing the slide show, you, again, may save the image or share the image via email.

To search the entire collection for a word or a phrase (not a collection of words), simply enter the search text in the search text box and press the Search icon.";

Enjoy the collection. It is a wonderful collection and a window on times past.

A full description of the collection may be seen at http://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/cwp/about.html

Political Correctness

I was enjoying this app, searching through it to see what all of the famous officers were I hear about in presentations and I try and look up Nathan Bedford Forrest. Nothing. It would have to be a conscious decision on the app designers part to not include him. Which is absolutely ridiculous.
