There was a period of time where your options for food cash back were very limited to single stores that weren’t in my area. Along with useless gym membership discounts. But after several weeks I’m getting better drops, like Joe and the Juice, Pokeworks, and Wonder, and Blank Street. The app is now very useful and I look forward to the drop every week! I have a feeling there was an algorithm change after some bad reviews from people with similar experiences.
This app was great for about a month. I tried new businesses I would have tried otherwise. But sometimes the only options were literally in a different state, or for a business that was temporarily closed, and there’s no option to “pass” if you don’t like any of the available claims. maybe because I wasn’t able to redeem a few weeks in a row, the app has not had a single claim for me in over a month. So there’s no point in it now.
Here’s a review from a real person. This app used to be a lot better, I got deals from Veggie Grill and Chipotle but now it’s only ever the same 3 places, a private gym or poke places. I don’t eat seafood and I’m not trying to go to a workout class that’s just gonna be trying to sell to me the whole time. And my account has been pending for at least 3 months so I can’t ever trade with anyone. It’s a cool idea but in practice it’s just weekly disappointment and annoyance every Thursday.
I used to actually like the Claim app. When it first came out, it worked fairly well and the weekly food cash back for students on Thursdays was a nice benefit. Unfortunately, the app has gone downhill fast. Now it’s buggy, slow, and unreliable to the point where it’s almost unusable. Features don’t work properly, crashes and errors are common, and getting the cash back to actually go through feels like a gamble every week. It honestly feels like the developers and support team have stopped caring or putting effort into maintaining the app.For something that’s supposed to help students, this level of neglect is disappointing. If the app still worked like it used to, I’d recommend it, but in its current state, it’s frustrating and not worth the trouble. Serious updates and effort are needed if this app wants to be taken seriously again.
Honestly, when I first bought this app, a few months ago, it was really nice. I had claims in chipotle, dunkin, five guys, and there were legit. $10 spent meant $10 back in your pocket. But, now, the deals are worse. There is now a minimum spend, either $10, $12, $15, and the cash back is usually less than 50%, like $4 or $5. Its still a deal, sure, but I don’t really see myself going out of my way to go these places just for a small discount. If you don’t mind spending a bit of money and find the discounts useful, then get the app. However, if you’re looking for free food, it seems like they no longer have those offers anymore.
…and after that apparently you don’t exist. First week had known brands and a good deal, spend $10/get $10 back. Second week had okay options and deals, spend $10/get $8 back, fine. Third week had barely any brands I recognized, so I traded, and the exact same brand that I had the second week was now spend $16/ get $5 back. The fourth week had even worse deals and no options worth spending money on anyway. Now, for the last month and a half, I’ve gotten ZERO claims at all. Absolutely nothing. Enjoy the first drop or two, because they don’t seem to care about user retention at all.
