Love this app! Almost perfect

Clay Lab is absolutely essential for keeping records of ceramic pieces!! LOVE it for keeping photos, notes, glazes, etc on each piece. I do lots of experimenting with glazes & usually prefer test pieces to test tiles & can easily keep track of which clay, glazes, UGs, firing schedules, etc.

Improvements suggestions: Would like to be able to record more than one inside & outside glaze on each piece w/out having to type into notes. Would like to customize categories “about this piece” bc I would like to easily record: glaze firing schedules & item’s price..but don’t care to record size or weight or form.. Also additional “Current Stage” categories could include “Priced” or “For Sale” & “Sold” categories. It would also be great to be able to search app for a specific glaze & be able to see all works w that glaze. Lastly - would be good to be able to delete the glaze names which come already installed..

..but really..This app is great!

Thanks so much for your feedback - and sorry for the late reply. A new release is coming out next month where you will be able to add multiple layers of glazes/underglazes/slips etc and delete the existing presets. thank you agian!

Nearly perfect!

I have a hundred projects in here now! It is so perfect for tracking works in process — and I’m so grateful it’s free! I used to lose track of smaller pieces, forget which clay I used or (definitely) which glaze combo gave which unexpected effect. I love that you can add your own clays, glazes, underglazes and forms. I wish… for it to be completely perfect (and then probably not free)… you could: delete pre-populated glazes clays etc. , sort works by Location (or other fields, like glaze or clay used), star works for a “Portfolio” subsection. There are hideous failures I want to keep record of but do not enjoy scrolling through every time I look for something :-)
Wishes aside, I work with a community of potters almost none of whom can/want to pay for a clay log, and we love, love, love it! I recommend this to everyone!

Thank you for you appreciation and your feedback, it is really important to us!

About deleting the presets: we added the ability to delete any of the values from Settings in version 1.3, including those that come with the app.

We are considering ways to search, filter and sort pieces, and the idea of starring them looks interesting too. Hence, we would like to point you to ClayLab's Facebook group, where we started gathering suggestions and feedback on missing and wished-for features.

Thank you again!

Record your clay projects and history

I’ve been looking all over for an app that can record my clay projects and glaze combinations. Although not perfect, this one probably is as close as I would want it. If I could build my own I certainly would but alas I’m not that smart. The only recommendations I would have are that I am a hand builder and there is no option for hand building. Also I would prefer the glaze selection to have the ability to select multiple glazes and to be able to indicate which one was the first layer and which one is the second layer. Lastly, in a perfect world, I would have the ability to look up my projects by certain variables like, say, form or color of glaze etc. So when I need to find my favorite blue combo, I could just organize by blues.
But I know it’s the first version so I’m sure there will be more options in the next version. Thanks for building it!

Thanks so much for your feedback Tom.
The app is optimized for throwers at the moment but I would love to make it more useful for hand builders too at some point.

Regarding the ability of filtering by form/color/glaze and selecting multiple glazes and indicate which layer was applied first: it's at the top of my current 'roadmap', hope I can make that happen soon!

Thanks again.
