Version 1.7.2
Following issues will be fixed with this update.
- After updating to macOS Sonoma, Cliq app randomly crashes when the users click on the menu bar.
- Sometimes desktop notification were not shown for new messages from Cliq bots.
- After login, some menu items were not available for use.
Ratings and Reviews
A good Slack alternative, room to grow
I was looking and most of the reviews here (all negative) are 2 years old. I thought I'd offer a more recent review. I was using the free tier of Slack with multiple users. The recent shift on Slack's free option to limit the chat history to 90-days was a total deal breaker and the monthly cost for all the users was more than what I wanted to pay in a chat platform.
I test several competitors, and thought that Cliq was the closest in functionality, interface, etc. It's missing a few items - formatting text isn't as simple, but the Markdown works pretty well, no bullets though - but I've been pretty happy since the switch. The web version and desktop app have been stable, the iPhone app works (though I don't really use it much) and the overall organization is clean and simple. When I've had questions, tech support has been easy to contact and very helpful. The free tier is very generous, so I would say it's time to give it another look.
Most bulky App
Cliq being the most bulky app i have ever used. It get's stuck every now and then. The developer has no intention to update it. Even though it says an app but it is just a wrapper of web app. They're trying to compete with Slack & Microsoft Teams but they're yet to maintain the quality like them.

Mic switching issues and others...
This would be a great app. It feels like a cheap knockoff of Discord and Slack.
On a mac with mutiple displays there are several issues.
1. When you are in a call, the audio will switch between your different screens randomly. If you try to set the output to your headphones, it crashes.
2. When you are writing a message, if you use an @person symbol and hit tab to have it automatically fill out the rest of the person's name, the screen switches to another tab instead of auto-filling their name.
3. It uses @participants to ping everyone in a chat instead of @everyone
4. The settings page is sub-par. You cannot manage your audio settings or your video settings from there.
5. When you start a conversation with somone, their name disappears from your list of contacts.
6. Screensharing often crashes the app.
