Description

CloudMounter is a centralized service that allows mounting cloud storages as local disks and working with online files the same way as with local ones. It also keeps all your data securely protected with the high-end encryption algorithm (AES256), so in case your account is stolen, no one gets access to your personal information.

Manage your main Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive accounts and encrypt files on them for FREE! The app supports Box cloud service, pCloud, Backblaze B2 cloud storage, Amazon S3-compatible storage solutions, files shared with you over Google Drive, and even more!

Free supported cloud services:
- Google Drive
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Dropbox

Services available with the subscription:
- Amazon S3, with custom server endpoint
- Box
- Backblaze B2
- pCloud
- FTP
- FTPS and FTPES
- SFTP
- WebDAV
- OpenStack Swift

With this handy system utility you can extend your Mac disk space to unlimited, the only condition is an active Internet connection. Ready to find out how it works? It is really easy!

Unlike native clients, CloudMounter does not sync local information with your online accounts, it really mounts remote servers on your Mac, like removable disks. You can copy, move, open, download, and upload files to your cloud servers, just as you would with your local folders. CloudMounter has a rather handy Finder extension allowing you to see the loading statuses of your files. You can even move files between cloud accounts, without having to manually copy them to your local computer. Keep in mind that a temporary copy of the file is still saved to a computer, only to be removed after the transfer is completed.

Additionally, the app offers the native mount type, which allows users to work with files offline regardless of their Internet connection. The feature is available for macOS 11.3 and later.

CloudMounter is a safe and secure utility. It allows you to encrypt your personal data on the cloud servers so that only CloudMounter user with a master password can see it. Viewing the storage from any other point of access (i.e., browser or native client) will show nothing but nonsense.

Besides encryption of your online data, all connections are performed through the native API of cloud services, which means that all your login credentials are not used by the app for anything else except logging in to appropriate accounts and, of course, are not shared with any third parties. All passwords for FTP, WebDAV, and Amazon S3 accounts are securely kept in the macOS Keychain.

CloudMounter is your must-have tool if you use several cloud accounts or if your Mac SSD drive has an extremely low capacity. Try it now and enjoy the benefits of an all-in-one cloud solution.

Just wish there was a UI for tracking uploads

Love being able to mount my OneDrive in the Finder, as I keep a lot of data there that isn’t on my SSD. The UI integrates seamessly with the Finder, and is simple and self-explanatory.

The one thing sorely missing is the ability to monitor your uploads. The Menu Bar dropdown says when there’s a transfer going, and how many files remain, and the Finder integration shows an icon indicating the upload of a file in progress, but NOWHERE is is possible to see how far along the transfer is. If you’re uploading a 250MB file, it’s impossible to tell if you’re 5MB or 200MB in, and as such, it’s impossible to even guess how much longer the transfer will taken. This is a major oversight on the part of the developer.

Fix this problem, my review becomes 5 stars. (Having said that, I’m using the free version and if I ever needed the paid features, I’d probably just get by with HTTPS and FTP transfers, since the price is higher than I’d like — especially for subscription ware.)

Thank you for posting your feedback. I would like to inform you that the "progress bar" feature will be added in further updates of CloudMounter software.

Does exactly as it says

Cloud Mounter does exactly as it says: mounts cloud storage as a local drive.

OneDrive is fantastic if you have an Office subscription, but keeping files synced chews up valuable SSD space. By moving files to a cloud-only folder, I get to use the 1TB of OneDrive and keep my computer relatively free.

One thing to keep in mind: files are kept in a temporary cache whilst they are being uploaded. I didn’t know this. All I saw was the available storage plummit when I dropped a huge directory from an external drive to the cloud drive. Now I know this, I’m scheduling my dumps a bit more sanely.

Fantastic application, well worth the money.

Dear developers: It would be great if there was a monitor utility so I could see the files being transferred and how that is progressing, and see the cache usage. Yes, I know that I can get all of that from the menu, but I’d like to see a progress bar as to how the transfer is going when I do the huge data dumps.

Thank you for your feedback and your thorough commentaries. I will pass it to our developers, so they will consider adding a more detailed progress bar in future updates of the app.

Great Idea, Poor Execution.

As someone who does server-work across many servers, the mountable drives are a God-send. That said, at $10/qtr, CloudMounter is far from "great". Just to mention a few:

- The time between small file-changes and file-upload is atrocious. It may only be 5-10 seconds, but this adds up quickly. I won't event get into the actual transfer speeds..

- There is no progress provided whatsoever. No way to identify if something is "stuck" or encountering a permissions error.

- Making changes on the server are rarely reflected on clients; typically I am forced to unmount and re-mount to see the changes.

After contacting them about these (and other) issues, I was sent an article about how ftp works and how I must be doing it wrong. As someone whos worked with servers for 20 years, that was pretty insulting. FTP is reasonably quick, somehow CloudMounter's implementation of it is slow.

All in all, there is no alternative, and I'm thankful it exists. But truth be told, in its current state, if ever there comes an alternative, I'll drop CloudMounter in a heartbeat. Hell, given nothing changes, I might create one myself, just out of spite.

Thank you for leaving such a thorough review. The data is updated from the connected server within the standard timeout period - 30-60 seconds. Unfortunately, it cannot be reduced. The only way to check the status of your uploads is to open the mounted drives in Finder (there you can find special icons next to the files).
https://www.eltima.com/wiki/knowledge-base/cloudmounter/status-icons.html. Once you click on any folder or file in the list, the list will be automatically refreshed. Also, switching between the drives will result in the list refreshing.
We'd also like to assure you that our developers are constantly working on the app improvements. Thank you for your time for sharing your experience.
