Description

Test your DAC / Audio Hardware!

A simple app that enables you to try different DSD playback modes such as DoP, DoPA and PCM.

Simply load a DSD/FLAC/WAVE file, select your audio device and hit one of the playback options.

Automatic Sample Rate Switching is also available with switchable fallback to highest supported sampling rate. A quintessential indicator whether your device properly communicates with CoreAudio.

Be warned that due to the requirements of DSD playback, audio volume output is fixed as 100% - this is to retain the pure payback signal and is intentional. DSD signal can not me modified in any way, otherwise your DAC will fail to properly recognise the signal as DSD.

Volume slider will be inactive during DSD playback!!

- supports DSD files in DSF and DSDIFF containers
- DSD files that are DST encoded are NOT supported
- supports FLAC and WAVE file formats as well

This app is purely for sound quality and compatibility testing - it it not a fully-fledged audio playback application intended for everyday leisurely listening. For such, please try my other (paid) app: Colibri. This app uses the same audio core.

Great, Easy Way to Test DSD. Amazing Support

I wanted a way to quickly and cheaply (free) test how my DAC worked with DSD music.

Unfortunately, a lot of music apps don't actually send DSD to the DAC, defeating the whole purpose.

This app works perfectly for testing DSD files. My DAC confirmed it was receiving them as actual DSD; you think all dedicated apps would do this, but no.

Also, the app initially wouldn't open files with the extension .dff, only those with the newer .dsf extension. However, by changing the extension manually, the app would then open and play them.

I decided to email the developer about this inconvenience. Within 24 hours, he not only responded, but uploaded an update of the app to the App Store that would accept the .dff extension! Super impressive!

Now I am going to try the paid full app because it is priced right, doesn't need a subscription, and, unlike some app, will treat DSD files properly.

What is not to like on this app

Subscribed on this app since its inception, Although i have iTunes. Tidal, Audirvana, Izotope Ozone 9 and etc. Colibri has since been my go to player for its simplistic and minimalist concept and design, because some players can get to technical and at the end of the day u just want open an app then hit play and works without issues everytime. if your in the market a very simple yet powerful music player? i highly recommend Colibri apps.

Perfect Diagnostic Tool

The fact that Gabor went as far as to create a simple diagnostic tool to both test our own setups and demonstrate the capabilities of his music playback software speaks volumes to the integrity he has for his product and music listening tech in general. Thank you for your efforts!
