An incredible note taking app, definitely a competitor

TL;DR: this wildly good free app will make you question why anyone would pay for a note taking app.
This app offers many of the same incredible features that paid apps such as Notability and GoodNotes use to justify price points. I downloaded it out of curiosity and now I am reconsidering making the jump to primarily use it. I am just flabbergasted that it is completely free with no micro transactions or ads. Some of the features do come out a little less polished than the other big names apps, but I have looked at the developer’s update history on their published forum and it is incredible how responsive, timely and involved the individual is. I have no doubt that in less than a few months, those polishes will be more than completed AND even more new features will be implemented. I would be more than happy to send a few $$ to the developer because they seem to actually care about improving their app and implementing feedback, vs the once very few months minor “update” provided by expensive, big name note taking apps (which sometimes include new micro transactions). Note taking apps everywhere better watch themselves on what they charge for in the future and on how fast they get features out there.

Great Note Taking App

Overall: an amazing free app with a lot of the note taking features you’d need that more expensive apps offer.

I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel like I need to support this small creator considering what they’re doing for free is amazing and just as good as some of the larger business that offer note taking apps. As a student, this has almost everything I need and it works like a charm. The app looks good, and makes sure my notes do too.

Only suggestions would be the ability to have an “infinite whiteboard” like page for the times when I’m brainstorming or scribbling down idea, being able to open two notes simultaneously, and some kind of search feature. But seeing how actively they’re updating this and how on-the-ball they are, I have no doubt this will be updated with newer features soon. Keep up the good work!

Hi, thank you very much for helping CollaNote to spread the word.
Opening 2 notes simultaneously, search feature is on my list.
I don't think infinite paper is good for CollaNote because it's not so friendly for printing, I'm sorry. The best I can do is continuous scrolling so you can scroll down to continue scribbling.
I hope you still enjoy CollaNote

Very promising app!

For someone with little money to spare, I’ve been eying several paid apps but I never bothered trying any offered trial run and never found any good free alternative. Until I was recommended this from reddit! Someone was gushing about this app and next thing I knew, I installed it and was writing away to my heart’s contents.

Since I never had any experience using a note taking app beyond OneNote (which is...okay, but it’s limited in handwriting aspects imo), this is definitely a great app to start with—and one I’ll stay with. It still needed some features (dark mode and an ability to turn the ‘paper’ around so I can write from an angle, namely), but the updates are chugging along wonderfully. With a dedicated developer and regular updates, I don’t think you’ll be sorry trying this app. :)

Hello and thanks for your great review ... Actually, the paper rotates with the iPad - if you haven't locked the function. Try to turn on the dark mode in the menu at CollaNote, or write me an email, then I give you access to the trial version - there you can test in extensively. Have fun with CollaNote - the next updates are coming soon, right now they are tested by the beta testers - you can then scroll the paper from top to bottom, not only from right to left. If you still have special wishes - I always try to implement them quickly - impossible things are done immediately, for miracles I need a little longer then 😅
