ColorDeBlind

How color blind people see

$0.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

See the world the way a color blind person sees it, or recolor it so the differences you've been missing become obvious. FOUR WAYS TO SEE COLOR • Simulate — view any scene as someone with protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, or achromatopsia sees it. • Correct — remap colors that would blur together onto ones you can still tell apart. • Highlight — flag only the regions likely to be confused, in four styles: Tint, Spotlight, Heatmap, and Opponent. • Color ID — aim the crosshair at anything and get the color's name, its Hex, RGB, or CMYK value, and how close the match is. IF YOU'RE COLOR BLIND Sort the laundry. Tell ripe fruit from unripe. Read a transit map, a stock chart, a wiring diagram. Color ID names what you're pointing at. Correct and Highlight run on the live view, so you can simply look — nothing to capture, nothing to wait for. IF YOU'RE NOT Red-green color blindness affects roughly one man in twelve. Hold your phone up to a chart, a slide, an app, a sign, or an outfit and see at once whether it still reads. Swipe the carousel to compare every type side by side against normal vision. COLOR VISION TEST A built-in test using Ishihara plates. Tap through, choose what you see, and get an estimate of whether you may have a red-green deficiency and which type it leans toward. Afterward, review every plate: what you answered, what normal vision reads, and what that plate was testing. This is a screening aid. KEEP WHAT YOU SEE The shutter saves the filtered frame straight to Photos, or import a picture from your library and filter that instead. Switch on Fade and the preview cross-fades between the unfiltered scene and the filter on a loop; captures then save as Live Photos that animate the same way, so you can press and hold in Photos to show someone the difference. Everything runs on your device. The camera feed never leaves your phone. "This app will change the lives of color blind people in ways that no medical advancement has ever been able to. It's convenient, practical, and more importantly, useful to people who had previously been unable to distinguish between various colors. Aside from it's medical implications, it's also really helpful in showing people who are not color blind how debilitating and frustrating the condition can be." -Samantha Harris, M.D. "Holy crap. That is amazing. I can see things I could never see before." - Tony D. (red-green color blind)
