Good app - Amazing potential

I like this app for a lot of reasons, it keeps track of your whole collection, has a nice interface and a good reading window. If youre into comics and are looking for an app to organize and read all your comics in one application this is the one, or at least the best one ive been able to find. My one and only issue (though pretty big) is it doesnt seem to keep my comics in order at all and its really incredibly annoying. For example I have all of the Saga comics and even tho each comic has which issue number it is in title the app seems to just put them whereever it wants (ie, 1,15,3,22,4 instead of 1,2,3,4,ect...) if theres something im doing wrong or if the dev could fix this i would switch to 5 stars. Overall excited to see where this app goes in its development and am thankful for creator

Thanks so much for the kind words – I greatly appreciate it! I'd like to help you get your comics sorted the way you'd like, and I assure you Comickaze has plenty of options for doing so. If you send a support email (Help -> Send Feedback… from inside the app) I can work with you to figure out what's going wrong, but it seems like you may not be using the Issue Number field. Comickaze tries to interpret this from the filename when you add comics, but sometimes it isn't able to figure it out. There are a few ways you can correct this, which I could go over with you. I look forward to hearing from you!

Good Replacement for ComicBookLover

Since ComicBookLover is no longer being activately developed or updated, I was searching for a usable replacement. The interface is similar to CBL, and seems so far to be working without issue. The true test will be once I load more of my files (~1500). If it handles these without a problem, I’ll consider it money well spent. I wish they developer would include the ability to ‘scrape’ data from comicvine, but this feature was missing from CBL as well — though YacLibrary does have it. The one area I do not care for is the program modifying the CBZ file by adding an XML file into it. CBL’s was cleaner. This is similar to the way ComicRack works on windows.Overall works as advertised. Recommended.

Thanks for writing in, Scott! I appreciate the kind words. To explain a little, I chose to write metadata into a file instead of hidden info inside the CBZ (like ComicBookLover does), so that you can always see (and even potentially edit or remove) the data stored there with any ZIP archive tool (most don't expose the other hidden info). I agree that the other way looks cleaner, though. I'm also interested in adding automated tagging with ComicVine or something similar, but it doesn't look like the available services disallow commercial apps. YACReader gets around this by being a free app.

Decent reader/organizer but missing some basic controls

This is a decent reader/organizer for cbr/cbz/pdf files but it lacks some basics which is surprising given the high price. So for example the vast majority of Mac pdf readers use the space bar to page down a page and the arrow keys to move between pages. This app breaks that convention using the space bar to move between pages. Most readers allow you to zoom in and hold that zoom level as long as you browse. This reader doesn't.Most readers let you double click to magnify and option click to zoom out. AWOL here. The interaction between the comic browser window and to comic reader window is also strange (space bar always affects the reader window). The browser window is also a bit wierd in the way it handles folders (calling them boxes and not leeting you create sub-folders). Do I regret spending the money? Yes. Do I feel it has a chance to get much better with a bit of work? Also yes. I suggest the developer try to use this reader on a small screen and nagivate keyboard only with as few keys as possible.
