Disappointed and yet not surprised 😑

I'm not surprised that once again a good intention for an app/program that's military affiliated has fallen so short. I'm glad DeCA finally introduced a coupon app/card, but this app has been frustrating and broken from the start. Since it was released I've been regularly annoyed with the clipping function: if you don't tap the scissor icon in EXACTLY the right place it opens the coupon description instead of clipping the coupon. It is beyond irritating that there's not a simple check box or something of that sort - I don't have time to look through the coupons, I just add them all and hand over my card. For the love of God either get rid of the sensitivity of the scissor icon or go with some other functionality that doesn't leave us ready to throw our phone!

The other issue is since the last update I've had to log back in everytime I use the app. To be honest it's not nearly as annoying as the clipping problems, but annoying in its own right none the less. Get your stuff together DeCA!!!

Easy to use but needs more development

Once I figured out how to navigate the app after registering / linking my Rewards number with it, it works pretty easily. I’ve not had any problems with coupons being applied for items I purchased, with scanning before or after ringing up my order (usually the cashiers do it before but if I forget they will do it after).
I use one of the larger Commissaries so maybe it’s a training issue with the employees that people are having the issue with. Having worked here after I was medically retired, I can say unlike the paper coupons there is no discretion of applying them or not. Due to getting in trouble with manufacturers who then didn’t want to sell Commissaries their products to carry was one of the reasons they are trying to go to digital coupons. It used to be the cashier could apply the coupon even if it was recently expired or not quite the right product as listed - that doesn’t really happen any more. This app won’t allow it either, but it does work as indicated if you read the coupon thoroughly. It would be nice if they were large enough to read, if you didn’t have to go to another screen to add coupon (just tap the coupon and it’s added without losing your place). I’ve had no issue with it saving my login info.

NEEDS TO WORK WITN iOS 11.0 because now I can’t use it at all - won’t even open. But mostly this is better than me forgetting all the coupons I clipped at home when I go to the Commissary.

Needs more work

I like being able to clip coupons from my phone, but every single time, there are inevitably some coupons that don’t apply even though I’ve bought the items to fulfill the requirements.

If I have more than one of the same item with coupons both on my card and on paper, the system kicks my paper coupons even if they’re for the separate items. If I have a paper coupon with a higher value than what I’ve clipped on my card, I have to do separate transactions.

These two errors add up, which costs me money when I’ve bought a brand specifically to save on it. The cashiers frequently can’t or won’t fix anything, they just read back what the register’s telling them. It’s not their fault, but the program/app needs to work better so we all waste less time. The rewards program has some good deals, but I save way more by combining those with paper, so it would be great if they worked better together!

It also logs me out at random when I close the app, which it didn’t do before this update. That’s really not necessary, and again, costs time.
