Thanks for the app!

I’ve gotten used to using this app pretty regularly since I no longer use a meal box service. Having it import my groceries (admittedly, it works better for online purchases/pick-ups) has truly helped me easily distracted brain to keep track of my kitchen. I would rave about it even if that is all it did but, I can search for recipes based off my current ingredients (and substitutes!), or look for a recipe then add missing ingredients to a shopping list and price compare to different stores! I used this a lot more at first just to verify if it was accurate but, now it’s more of a comfort & motivator to keep using the app in case I need it for an immediate random event. The ability to set up a meal plan with new and imported recipes from practically any website(also very easy to accomplish), then add certain items to a grocery list(with the measurements grouped together) has been the experience I’ve looked for but never thought it would be in just one app. There are so many features, I feel like if you think of something that you want in a grocery/pantry app this one has it. I haven't used it yet but i can add other people to the app so they can update it too. And recently I can even choose which subbed ingredient I want. I support this app and it’s development team. Thank you for making this available!

Could be better

I love the app and what I’ve been able to do with it. It’s quite time consuming to set up scanning everything in your pantry. It could do better on a few areas. It takes so long for your receipts to come through that it thinks you don’t have the groceries sometimes until the produce is expired and when adding from the shopping list areas results in a duplication. The recipes could definitely be updated, it’s more limited then I’d like to see and having to create your own recipes regularly adds to the time consuming aspect of the app. Many of my store links expires frequently (like every few days) making me log back in. Even though I abbe several store accounts linked, it will only let me shop and give me options for 2 of them, which aren’t the store I shop most (Costco). The product substitution on recipes really needs work. Basically it sees any kind of fresh herb as a substitute for another which can get confusing when trying to use the “cook what I have” option when searching recipes. It gives me a lot of options for things I can’t make because it’s making unsuitable substitutions yet leaving a lot on the table with my available ingredients due to the limited recipes. All that, I still think it’s worth the $50/year or whatever. I love being able to make a meal plan that my family members can see and using ingredients that I have on hand.

Cooklist has seriously impressed me!

I'm currently using the unpaid version. The first thing you do is link your grocery stores. Then, scan the barcode of each food item or snap a pic of your receipt to add them to your Pantry. After a grocery trip, new items get added automatically because my store is linked. When I'm ready to cook, I hit the Cook page, toggle 'Cook Now' to see recipes with ingredients I already have. There are some awesome filters on the Cook page, but they're not in the free version. After cooking, it prompts me to review/update used ingredients, and removing items from my pantry when finished is a satisfying touch. The option to add used items to the shopping list seems handy, although I haven't tried it yet. I haven't explored the meal planner either, but it's on my list! Having all my food inventory on my phone is so convenient. Plus, the app shows past purchases and grocery spending data over time, by category & store. It's amazing! It’s helped me save money, made cooking easier and keeps me more organized.
