CookUnity - A Chef Marketplace 4+

The CookUnity company and service is great overall. I’m very pleased with the meals and will continue to be a customer for a long time. The app makes ordering nice and easy and I like how you can easily find your order history or track delivery.

I read an article though that showed that the chefs really pay attention to the reviews so I try to be thoughtful with my feedback. Unfortunately the text window where your writing your review does not expand as your writing so you can’t see past a few lines of what you’re putting in the text box. I don’t know if I need to correct a typo or not, or if I’ve actually written what I think I’m writing because you simply can’t see it. I don’t know if I’m describing this well but I’m sure others have had this experience.

This service has the best food of all similar services that you can sign up for. They are very consistent and their meal selection is broad. I’ve never had a bad meal from them. Their customer service is also great. My only gripe and the reason why I can’t give it five stars is that they have a feature that lets you sort the meals by ingredients you’d like to exclude and add that to your profile so that they don’t ship you meals with ingredients that you are allergic to or that you don’t want. The sorting works fine if you are adding meals manually to your order but as far as I can tell this feature does not work consistently if you have it auto select meals. On a few occasions I’ve been shipped meals from their service that have an ingredient in them that I wanted to avoid even though I had that ingredient excluded in my profile. So, if you are someone like me, you have to go in every week and read all the ingredients and add the meals manually.

Echoing the sentiments of many other reviewers: the food is mostly good, the app needs improvement. Issues range from annoying (no search function, selections frequently get cleared out and have to be redone) to totally unacceptable. For instance, the app showed that my delivery for a week was skipped, then a few days later I was charged for the week and 12 meals were scheduled for delivery to my home while I’m out of state. I contacted customer service the day before delivery and they did not help at all (other than a 30% off coupon for next order - how does that help me? This was not my error.)
I’ve been using the service for several months now at 12 meals per week, so about $600 per month. The customer service didn’t live up to the high cost of this service.
**UPDATE** customer service rectified the issue after a lot of requests from me. It was a headache, but they came through enough to retain me as a customer.
