Useless

I was looking for a cool way to database my movie collection other than iTunes. I assumed from the screenshots and description that this would be a useful tool, but instead I was disappointed by a clunky GUI that's basically an IMDB databse in a browser. I think it's a good idea, but there's way too may paramters that don't matter and no simplicity involved. Save your $5 for the next version if it (hopefully) improves.

Awesome Movie Database

I’ve owned this Database 4 days now and I gotta say it’s the best application I’ve seen in a long time. I started saving my 1200+ movies 4 years ago using my Mac-mini 2011 and a video capture device to an external hard drive. On my Mac-mini I was making my own personal database using movie DB template when my hdd got zapped. Lost 3+ years of work about 480 or so entries. It was a nice accompaniment to my Movie library, a little bit searchable to help me decide what to watch. With that said let me tell you what Collector movie DB can do. 1st I got my Mac-mini fixed. And when I saw this App at the App store I got the lite version, just to see. The first thing, for me anyways, that it did was scan all of my video files on my external HD and turned them into a movie database. And then, the looking around for what to watch was excellent. Searching by one of the 30 genres, search by year, it can even search for your B&W movies. Now here’s the best part, after you looked around for awhile and decided on what to watch, it can start the movie, right from the app. Well open the movie then click on the start button. After finding this out I turned around and purchased the full version. You can also save and publish online and there’s a way for your friends and relatives to look at your pride and joy movie database online. Now that’s COOL.

Brilliantly designed and great FUN to use

I started designing interactive software in 1972, before most people knew what that meant. I will say without exageration that this is one of the best designed pieces of software I have ever used.
I suggest that it be studied in Software Design Courses at Universities as an example of how to integrate functionality when and where you need it as you use the program.
Best of all it is FUN and does a fabulous job cataloguing my 2800 movies.
