Countdown Timer Plus 4+

PERFECT

This app works like a dream! So far this is the only app I have been able to find that will let you set multiple alarms in the Mac App Store. There are apps that do multiple timers, but this app actually lets you set alarms. You can choose to have a sound play, or (and I LOVE this option) you can have it speak a customizable message to you when the alarm goes off (You can also choose how many times you want the message to repeat as well as what you want the notification banner to say). This is extremely helpful when I have multiple alarms going and need a reminder for what is when. For example, I'll have the alarm say, "You have five minutes until your Physics class zoom meeting." and ALL OF THIS IS FREE. Unlike other apps where all of the great features are barred from you by an obnoxious premium purchase, this app FREELY gives you all of these great features. 11/10 reccomend this app. It really works like a dream and the layout is very customizable and user-friendly.

FYI I am running OS Big Sur

I reopened he app, and updated it. It seems to be staying put; however, when I click on a timer to change it, the app crashes. So, I cannot add a new timer, or modify one. What I have is what I have.

I just want to say that the reason I am sticking with the app is that it is one of the only apps that is anywhere close to what I want.

** Reevaluating my review. **

I like the app, and I use for about 15 countdown timeers (events, projects, etc.). I also run a high-end system with four monitors, and a drawing tablet. It took me about an hour to set up all the timers, and I placed off to the side of the left-most monitor.

Well, every few days, when I boot up my system, all of the reminders move to the middle of my main screen. It takes about 10 minutes to get them back into place.

If I only had one or two timers, it would be frusrating enough, but 15 is too many to have to reposition every few days.

Guss I am i the market for a new countdown timer.

A month or so ago, I gave this app a 1-star review because it would not open. So, I tucked it away, and forgot about it.

The company sent me a nice email, asking me to contact them. So, I dragged the app out, and tried to fire it up... low and behold it is now working fine.

The Mac IOS has been going through some updates lately, so maybe that was it.

It does everything it claims...

Great Timers - Get It - Pay For It

This is the best timers app I have ever found to date (May 30, 2024). Bottom line: you should get it, and you should pay for it ($1.99). My review follows.

The Good: (1) App allows for multiple timers running at the same time; (2) you can place the timer "widgets" anywhere on the desktop you like; (3) the colors are fantastic; (4) the optional alarm sounds are great; (5) the font size is perfect; (6) resource usage is minimal - for example running three timers now on an original 2020 iMac M1 uses 1.5% of my CPU and a total of 30MB of private RAM; (7) menubar extra icon is relatively unabnoxious; (8) the price for this can't be beat at $1.99, no subscription!

The Bad: I don't really have anything, except I have a few things I wish for.

Wishes: (1) I wish the corners of the widgets were slightly rounded to match the aesthetic of recent macOS; (2) I wish the timers would optionally just stop dead when they time out, and not start counting _up_; (3) I wish that double-clicking on a timer in the Menubar Extra would automatically open the timer settings, or at least the gear menu there should have a menu option to edit the timer.

As I said above: bottom line is, get this app, pay for it, and you'll find it very helpful. Aloha.
