  • Working well, an issue to be fixed

    EdiPhone

It’s working well here for playing items that already exist in the Apple Music user’s library. Can not search for items not in the library, but that’s not its goal. An issue - sometimes the cover of the album does not show in the bottom Now Playing area, shows an empty grey square (well, squirqle) instead.

  • Interesting product, needs some iteration

    AricP

As of v4.0.3, this is a good start for the app, but is most definitely not your “go to standalone music player” as the app description says. First, there’s no playlist support. Next, there is no independent volume control. Your music will play at whatever volume your Mac’s volume is set to. The search needs a compact view option. It doesn’t support the system’s light/dark theme setting. Hope you like dark grey, because there is a lot of it. When displaying search results, the menu takes up most of the screen, even when just showing a single result. There are no keyboard shortcuts by default, and it doesn’t looks like you can interact with the menu via the keyboard (up/down, etc.). You can manually choose keyboard shortcuts, but there should be some by default. There doesn’t appear to be a way to control whether the app launches at startup or not via the app’s settings. That’s another thing you have to manage manually. I also find the search feature much slower than the Music app for my large library. This app has real promise, and it looks like the dev will be actively working on it, so I look forward to seeing what it can become.

  • Buggy, limited functionality

    Music1an

Firstly, there is no way to search for just a song - if I enter the partial name of a song, it shows ALL the contents of every album that might contain that song instead of just a list of songs. Secondly there is no Playlist functionality. Finally everything is search-based, no way to browse through a list of artists, playlists, etc. Which brings me back to the badly implemented search functionality. And once I do find a song to play, I cannot even position the playhead to the middle of the track, it keeps resetting. Feel like I wasted my money on this :-(

  • Cool app but needs improvement

    MoZZoro

I love having a standalone music player in the menu bar. However, a few issues need attention. The seek bar often restarts the song when I try to skip through, which disrupts the flow. It’d also be great if the app could be hidden from the dock, staying only in the menu bar for a cleaner setup. Also, allowing users to choose music folders outside of iTunes would add much needed flexibility. And, having a customizable menu bar icon would be a nice personal touch.

  • glad it’s back, but…

    Carlamatic

used to love CS way back when. what i’d like to make it pretty much perfect is for it to respect the system appearance setting. i can’t use dark mode thanks to my astigmatism, which makes it painful to look at white text on a black background. having the app use the system’s appearance setting would ensure any dialogues or app windows appear in light mode.

  • Good at what it does

    DavePBass

Was thinking this could search all of Apple Music but it only searches songs you’ve saved your library. It does that well though. Would love to see full Apple Music support though.

  • Limited Use In Version 4

    crichton007

I agree with the other reviewers although most of what it can and can’t do should be a surprise. The description says that it is search based but it only searches artists, track titles and albums. Most of the time I use Apple Music I am looking for a playlist. If you are like me and want to use this for playlists I would suggest saving your money.

  • Happy CoverSutra is back!

    jeffbyrnes

I was a longtime enjoyer of the old CoverSutra, so it’s lovely to see it’s back. Quite a new direction though: a standalone music player that lives in the menu bar!

  • Best Apple Music Player

    rjfranco

If you’re looking for a music player to replays Apple Music’s app, this is the one. Great global hotkey implementation which is always the part I lament is missing from other players.

  • Neat interface, and works as described

    Sebastian L.L.

Please add a software volume control for the app itself. My speakers are the PITA kind that only have volume controls on the subwoofer.

I’m so happy that CoverSutra is back!

  • Beware! Doesn’t work!

    mostly42

The app doesn’t work and Apple won’t refund on anything anymore. Even apps that don’t work. Don’t buy this!
