Update messed up landscape orientation scrolling

Now you can only see the class info below the video window a line at a time because the video window is locked and doesn’t scroll with the rest of the screen. This is very impractical and more than a little frustrating. Also, I can only use portrait in one orientation now and it’s not the one I prefer (apparently I like to use the my iPad upside-down/backwards). Please return it to the way it used to be!

The app has flaws

This is a useful app if you don’t want to watch classes in your web browser, but you must have WiFi for the app to be of any use. I “downloaded” classes in the app before an extended camping trip, anticipating a lack of WiFi. Much to my surprise, when I tried to open it to view the classes I had “downloaded”, I got a sign-in screen. You can’t sign in without WiFi. When I contacted support about the matter, I received instructions to enable data usage on my phone, but I’m not using my phone! My iPad doesn’t have cellular data, also, most of the time if I don’t have WiFi I also don’t have a cell signal on my phone.

The Creativebug response to this problem: “ If your Ipad does not allow date (data) usage, then you will indeed need WiFi in order to use the app! Apologies!”

The other annoying issue I have, which also applies to the classes online, is that when you stop a lesson part way through it doesn’t resume where you left off. You have to fast forward through the part you already saw, or watch it all over again.

Hi there, I wanted to let you know that this issue has been fixed. So sorry to keep you from crafting off-line! We hope your next crafting excursion goes better now that the download feature has been fixed.

Basic functionality portal to online subscription service content

This app is simply an app-ified interface to the content available online; as such, I’ll attempt to leave my opinion of the content itself to another venue.

The app, while visually smooth, is lacking in basic features one would expect for a paid subscription service - such as account management (which I suspect may be a calculated move to complicate cancelling subscription or auto-renewal) and help resources. There’s not a mention or a link to be found to the fully featured webpage.

Navigating the app requires constant clicking to view info that ought to be presented up front; there’s no way to identify if an offering is a 2-minute blurb or an actual full multi-hour course without opening the full details; same goes for bookmarking. There’s not even a way to view the multi-course curriculum paths that are available online, which is one of the core features of the whole system!

A quick note on the content... the legacy stuff is good, wonderful multi-hour courses that build on earlier lessons step by step, appealing for beginners and experienced alike.

I could do without the YouTube-style commentary and 5-minute shorts though...

In short: The app serves it purpose, allowing users to view content on their device. I wouldn’t recommend it standalone; be sure to make use of the full feature set on the webpage.

Very Happy

I thought this video was great! I’m not sure why people have negative attitudes I guess they do not get the “Happy Planner” idea. The planner is just that it’s to let each individual design and decorate their planner exactly the way they want it. There are NO right or wrong ways which makes this planner even better!! I call mine my Bible. She goes everywhere I go. You could call me old school.....you cannot trust your phone or computer they can crash and poof its all gone. I appreciate you ladies for coming up with such an awesome idea!! I mean who smiles when they have to pay a bill but when you have cute stickers it makes it fun!!! Thank you again for sharing this idea for the consumer!! For the negative Nancy’s out there maybe you should invest in the grumpy girl calendar because clearly you do not grasp this wonderfully perfect idea!!!!!

Love it so much!

My background is mostly art and a little bit crafty, and this app has enough of both to suit me. I adore the daily challenges every month. It gives me the extra motivating push to do just a little something creative every day when I might not be motivated enough on my own to do so. I love learning new techniques and learning about new products the instructors use. The community of artists and crafters is lovely too. I’ve connected with several new friends on instagram through creativebug while sharing artwork. And live shoots twice weekly give us a chance to ask questions and chat with instructors and each other in the comments. Love this place!

Useful but buggy

I just recently downloaded it and So far the classes seem great and very interesting. The production quality is great and there is a wide variety of topics. It very definitely seems to offer more than enough to justify the cost.

Cons: app seems very buggy. When you “go back” to the main menu, it automatically takes you back to the top of the menu which is super irritating. It’s hard to filter though topics so everything seems very muddled. I wish there was a way so see full courses in one spot because right now each section is scattered among every other topic. It’s very confusing and makes it hard to plan your watch list. I also wish there was a way to view topics from “start here”

Thank you for all of this great feedback! This will definitely help us shape solutions for upcoming versions. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Love the classes hate the app

The classes are great when you can access them! Unfortunately I have not been able to save classes to my library via the app, it took me some time to realize that they weren’t being added to my library. Customer service gave me back credits and had me try again. Still no luck. So their advice was to add classes to my library via my web browser in order to watch them in my app. Ok, not convenient but I gave it a shot. Well, I can add classes to my library via my online account but they still don’t show up in my library on my app. Pretty disappointed. My cell phone is my only access to the internet so an app interface is much preferred over web browser in my case. I do love the classes so I’ll keep supporting them until it makes me too irritated. Hope they can work out the bugs.

Love it

These classes are great, I find myself watching the entire course in one day. However, I think it would be nice if the videos would start back up where you left off instead of starting completely over. You're having to remember where you stopped watching and fast forward. I was also looking for polymer clay classes but there were none. But still have tons of selection and the teachers are great and very clear with direction

CAN’T Stop watching...

I’m new to this app and I’m already hooked!! I still have a lot to explore with all the different classes/videos that are on here. The ones I have watched are great plus being the D.I.Y gal that I am, I always love to learn new things. I can definitely see me watching these for hours. I’m into building rustic looking trinkets out of wood, I like working with clay, polymer clay etc., crocheting & some knitting. So I’m all over the board. I can’t wait to see what video I’m gunna watch next!!

Perfect for beginners

I found the 100 acts of sewing pattern on line and fell in love with it. I saw that Creativebug has a video class where the designer actually makes this tunic. It couldn’t have made me happier. In my area, it’s difficult to find a sewing instructor, watching this video online is the next best thing! Creativebug is well worth the monthly fee. Plus it’s not limited to sewing. I’m also interested in painting and jewelry making there are videos on these subjects as well!
