AirPods are great, but if you have a recent MacBook it means you probably have studio-quality microphones at your disposal(recent Macbook microphones are THAT good), or you might connect an external one, which you would prefer over any microphone on earphones or headphones. It's just physics.

Since recently Shazam is built in into macOS and you can access it from the menubar to find songs, even with your AirPods on. It's fantastic, you should use it all the time.
Give it a try, put on your AirPods, play a song on your Mac and then try to Shazam from the Mac menu bar. What did you notice? The sound was lost for a moment and then came back at much lower quality, right? This is because the bluetooth mic on your headset was activated. The same will happen with any app which uses the microphone.
CrystalClear Sound is solving this by automatically picking the internal microphone and prevents this unnecessary activation and if you need to use the bluetooth mic you can quickly switch microphones by changing the mode.
