Description

Cuprum is a multi-layer Gerber, Excellon and ODB++ viewer for the Mac platform.

It has basic editing capabilities and can export to Gerber X2 and Excellon as well.
Multiple files of different kinds can be combined and exported as a single Gerber dataset.

It supports viewing (and printing) multiple layers at the same time.

A QuickLook plugin is integrated in the app, so you can preview files in the Finder and other apps.

Features (some require an In App Purchase):
-Reads Gerber, ODB++, Excellon and XNC files
-Supports Gerber X2
-Compare images to quickly spot differences between two dataset revisions
-Various tools tool with advanced snap feature.
-Cuprum allows full zooming and navigation of the image with an intuitive interface whether you use a trackpad, magic mouse, normal mouse or pen tablet. Even your 3Dconnnexion 3D mouse is supported!
-It can also zoom to actual size, which corrects for different monitor DPI’s, so actual size is actually actual size.
-Multi-page print out (or PDF generation via the print panel) is supported with variable scaling and presets for actual size and page fill. Frames can be added, which also supports string substitution.
-A QuickLook plugin is integrated which allows Finder to show a preview of a document.
-Selection of objects, allowing inspection (and editing) of all properties.
-Highlighting of connected copper.

Excellent all-around Gerber viewer

Wonderful tool. The ability to easily reorder your layer stack (just click and drag with the mouse) combined with transparency options for all copper or just polygon fills really makes it easy to visualize more complex layouts before you ship the design off to the fab. Rendering performance is excellent and the application has never failed to recognize the type of layer from any Gerber file I've tried (with many different naming conventions). The "highlight connected copper" function is really cool too. About the only thing I could ask for is a dedicated "Plot to PDF" option. If only a tool like this existed for doing the actual PCB design!

Developer Response ,

Dear John, thanks for your review. You can plot to pdf from the print panel. It the lower left corner of the print dialog is the option to save as pdf. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Remco Poelstra

Easier and more flexible than even most Windows based Gerber viewers!

I've used many gerber viewers and do a lot of EDA design in general. This app is truly a lifesaver for the MacOS world Engineers like me. The UI really makes sense, and brings all the tools and functionality you'd expect to have. Even opens ODB files which is handy for some DFM's. Seems to be kept up to date consistently as well!

Keep up the great work!

The developer deployed bug fix promptly

Overall, the app provides a wonderful user experience. I had an issue with the rendering of a complicated gerber. The developer promptply acknowledged my bug report and published a new version of the app that fixed the bug the next day.
