Description

Solves systems of algebraic and/or differential equations. Natural language can be used to specify a problem, for example 'solve y = cos(y)'. Some higher index differential algebraic problems (index 2 and above) can be solved too, including problems on mechanical systems with holonomic constraints. Continuation along branches of stationary solutions is possible. DAE Solver performs linear stability analysis and it searches for turning points, simple bifurcation points, and Hopf bifurcation points. It also searches for new branches whenever a branch point is reached. Multiple documents are allowed, with unlimited undo. Results are generated as tables and graphs that can be copied to the Clipboard, and animations that can be saved as movie files. AppleScript is supported, with scripts that DAE Solver builds as a problem is defined and that can later be customized.

What’s New

Version 3.1

(1) Improved algorithm for detection of bifurcation points, (2) Calculation of local and global errors no longer impacts solution for some differential algebraic problems, (3) Curve labels can now be manually adjusted, (4) Additional help documents

Doesn't work on 10.6.8

The "information" says 10.6.6 is required. The description in "what's new in this version" says Lion is required, a contradiction. The latter is correct. Useless to me. Why isn't the earlier version available for those who haven't made the leap to Lion?

System requirements should be updated to match description

If Lion or higher is required for this update, why is it still being pushed out to Snow Leopard machines?
