App is only ok, when it can connect to Daikin server

It’s nice to be able to remotely adjust your home’s heating and cooling when you’re away, or just in a different room. We love the Daikin heat pump we recently purchased, but the smart thermostat installed with it loses its connection to Daikin One every time we have a power outage - which is pretty often in the winter. Even when the smart thermostat recognizes it is connected to our wifi we’ve been unable to get it re-connected to Daikin One. After 2 months waiting for service, the sales and installation agent fixed it finally (he had a setup app for agent use only) - but then it disconnected again during the next power outage and we’re back to square one.

Despite being initially excited about having a smart thermostat, I’ve come to hate this app because its UI isn’t intuitive or very intelligent - and no one should need to make a service call just to get the mobile app and the smart thermostat to talk to each other again after the power comes back online. Yes, we have tried deleting and reinstalling the app. We have tried everything we can think of - and we’re a pretty tech savvy household. Daikin, please improve your IoT technology! In the meanwhile, for us... another service call. :-(

I miss my Nest :(

This app is not great, nor is the physical thermostat. The wheel dial is so unresponsive I have to keep spinning it until it does something, and when it does, it disregards the direction I move the wheel and adjusts the temp the opposite direction. Or sometimes it’ll jump a few degrees.
Then there’s the “screen saver”. How is that in 2020, there’s no option to have both the time and the temp displayed?
Another issue is anytime I open the app, the current temp that’s displayed or what was set last, is incorrect. So now whenever I open the app, I just immediately close it and reopen so that it refreshes the settings and read out.
And lastly, since the last update, I’ve been receiving annoying pop ups every few seconds about enrolling in a dealer program (which will never happen).

Edit: Believe me I have restarted the thermostat a dozen times. Another thing that I don’t understand is why the thermostat night time mode only works if a screen saver is configured? Even at the lowest brightness setting of 50%, the screen lights up an entire room at night. I’d love to have night mode turn the screen off, but it only does so if you configure a screen saver, and the only options for screen savers are clocks or nothing at all! No option to just leave it with the temp displayed, if I do that, then night mode never turns off the screen!!

Functional, But Can Use Some Polishing

Everything functions as it should with the thermostat, however, when I tap the screen to change the temperature, it highlights the numbers as if I’m editing text.
