This update introduces four major improvements to Darkroom that improve the workflow, the design, and the precision and range of our tools: 1. Bringing our Liquid Glass design update from iPhone onto the Mac and iPad 2. Revamping our white balance tools to make them more accurate and useful, including a new Auto Balance feature. 3. A whole new Curves tool, with unconstrained adjustments and new HSL curves. 4. A new photo strip in preview mode that includes our flag and reject workflow features, making those much more accessible and efficient. The iPhone was already recently updated with a fresh coat of paint, adopting the latest design guidelines for liquid glass. This update brings that same fresh coat of paint to the Mac and to the iPad, making sure that the app feels at home on the latest versions of iPadOS and macOS. The new Curves tool has two major update: 1. Unrestrained point adjustments. By default, points along the curve are fixed to their track like before, but you can now drag horizontally to "unsnap" points and adjust the curve with more freedom. Moreover, points on the curve "float" unless you adjust them manually. This makes it much easier to create natural and smooth curves with more creative freedom. 2. We've added a few new curves, including Saturation vs Saturation, Hue vs Saturation, Luminance vs Saturation, etc. which allow you to add a new dimensionality to your adjustments. This is particularly powerful for those who enjoy making presets, as they now have a far richer set of tools to mimic film effects or more interesting looks that weren't possible before in Darkroom. The new White Balance tool meanwhile adds a color picker and an Auto mode which makes it easier to correct for missed white balance in your photo. Temperature and Tint have similarly been updated to give you a wider range of adjustments to correct for badly exposed images. This is particularly helpful for RAW photos, where it can be easier to take a photo with a widely-mistaken white balance setting. Finally, the new photo strip in the iPhone layout is familiar given how similar it looks to the one in the photos app, but it makes navigating your library while previewing images much more lightweight, and it allows us to move the Review actions of Flag and Reject into more prominent placement to make them more prominent and easier to tap.

We have refreshed the UI throughout with the latest Liquid Glass aesthetic introduced in iOS 26 and refined for the coming iOS 27. It looks lighter, feels more immersive, and removes a lot of small bits of friction across the app. * The library interface now has a beautiful Liquid Glass Tab bar that makes jumping between albums and your Recents much easier. * The sliders and the tool area got a design refresh as well, with many details sprinkled throughout. * Library photo grid can now be resized with fit and fill modes (Try pinching with your finger to resize the grid). * We have updated the AI model we use to generate Depth masks on your photos so they now have much much higher fidelity and accuracy than before. * Depth, Luminance, and Color masks have a new range tool with customizable falloffs so you can make more accurate and refined selections. * Lots of little details and refinements to make the experience beautiful, polished, and compelling. Improvements and fixes - Fixed an often reported photo export issue where Batch actions or exporting from Library could produce incorrectly edited images, overexposed or underexposed results, or exports with no edits applied at all. - Fixed a UI glitch that could appear frequently when opening the Frames tool, or when double-tapping a slider knob to reset that specific adjustment. - Improved the import experience end to end. Fixed bugs that could cause imports to stall or even crash when importing large photo batches. - Fixed an issue on macOS where importing photos via Drag and Drop into Library did not work correctly.

Fixes - Fixed rendering glitches caused by Clarity when exporting RAW photos from your Library or when using Batch Actions, so your exports look consistent and accurate. - Fixed a thumbnail issue where RAW+JPG photos could appear overexposed or underexposed after edits, so previews match the adjusted photo.

Extended Metadata now goes beyond viewing. Darkroom+ subscribers can now edit important photo details directly, from capture date, time, and location to deeper camera and lens information stored in EXIF metadata. • Export quality and consistency improved across masks, clarity, color grading, curves, and framed or cropped images. • Fixed issues with the Histogram showing inaccurate spikes, causing the clipping indicator to appear. • Improved video controls so they stay visible while working with videos. • Fixed duplicate Window menu items and improved command handling. • Fixed crashes related to shared preset links, closing the editor, generating preset thumbnails, and working with masks.

Fixes and improvements in this version: - Clarity now works correctly with Masks. Previously, using Masks could prevent Clarity from being applied as expected when exporting in batch. - Batch editing is now more reliable when using Masks. Exporting multiple photos from the Photo Grid after applying edits in batches should no longer fail or behave inconsistently. - Reduced memory usage when exporting RAW photos, helping exports run smoother especially on large files or multi-photo workflows.

These photos now open correctly. - Fixed black line artifact appearing at video edges — When panning or zooming on videos, a thin black line could appear at the edges. The geometry is now computed correctly. Improvements - Improved "Edit With Darkroom" on Mac -- Opening photos from Apple Photos via "Edit With Darkroom" is now smoother. A single photo opens directly in the editor, while multiple photos open in the grid with all selected. - Improved batch action buttons -- The Batch, Clear, and Done buttons now have larger tap targets and a more consistent appearance. - Improved grid overlay icons on Mac -- The grid overlay options in the Transform tool (Thirds, Phi, Center, etc.) now use properly scaled icons on Mac.
