Since getting my first Apple machine years ago, I've searched for some kind of simple, basic set of activity lights to tell me what my machine was doing and when. I’ve never figured out why Apple has always been so remiss at including the “idiot lights” common to other machines and devices. Status lights can be extremely useful, especially to show intense activities over long periods, at unusual times! A simple, lightweight app showing disk and network activity would be sufficient, but this app gives you more in the way of threshold indicators. Yet, this app remains basic and straightforward…and, best of all, it’s right there, in your face for quick, anytime reference! No clicking or navigating anywhere to get the info you want…just look at the upper bar! Perfect! I truly hope the author of this nifty little gizmo refrains from following Apple’s example of “improving” things and making features “pretty”. The way this app is, in its present form, is just fine! Well done, and a well deserved “atta boy” to the creator(s) of this app!
love the lights….
call me old school, but I do love to get the feedback from the system telling me when it is busy doing stuff instead of just spinning its wheel doing nothing. Like when it is hung-up.
the new stats pull down is great. It is like using a simplified version of Activity Monitor. Great job.
Great little app with one caveat
This is a well-built and very functional little app. My one complaint is that it does not monitor the activity of external drives (USB, external HDD). I had an older app called DiskSpy that was able to do this well. That app hasn’t been updated in some time and does not work on High Sierra. I bought this as a replacement but am disappointed with this loss of functionality. Still, 4 stars.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
