As a soon to be occupational therapist, I love this app

I love that the app itself is informative, inspirational, and customizable. The exercises and programs themselves are incredible! I appreciate the holistic approach that is taken that not only includes the movement of your body but the growth of the mind and soul through other components such as the eating and recipes (though I personally follow keto/low carb) to taking photos of your progress, journaling your feelings, and the motivational messages. As the title says, I’m working on becoming an occupational therapist so I am very pleased with how thoughtful the programs are, especially the bed to chair series. The step by step process and the encouragement to make the DDPY your own through modification helps to meet people where they are at while working within their abilities. Also, the endless customization keeps people motivated and to be okay with whatever level of ability while building upon that to progress further. It’s also okay to stay at a similar level for a long time. I’m fairly able bodied but I’m overweight and overwhelmed with life (grad school is rough) and for nearly a year I’ve only been able to keep up the bed flex, wake up, and energy beginner level routines. I know I’ll get to the more advanced stuff eventually but I feel good with what I can do right now thanks to the continued motivation and support this app and program offers!

Everything You Will Ever Need

The DDP App is a great accessory to have if you want all the different tools that DDP Yoga has to offer. It might be a little daunting at first given all the stuff that is on there but take your time and browse around. There are a lot more workouts here than you get with the DVDs. There are also inspirational stories to get you through the tougher times. There is the Food channel. A section on progress tracking and so much other stuff.

Don’t feel like you are not giving it your maximum effort if you don’t do everything that DDP says. Again, he constantly says, “Make it your own”. Besides, you might go back to some of the parts you omitted after awhile but you shouldn’t force feed yourself parts of the App that you have no interest in at the time.

I would suggest picking a workout that you feel you can easily do just to get the confidence. Once you breeze past that, pick something that is just a little more difficult. There are preset programs you can select that will give you a schedule of workouts. The next workout might be a little more challenging and require a little more effort but you will gain strength in order to do the next workout. As long as you stay somewhat consistent, your strength will grow.

So easy a cavemen could do it.

If you are on the fence about trying DDP Yoga, jump in. I waited a few years and wish I had done it sooner. The app is awesome! It lays out the workouts for you and makes it a no brainer. There is all kinds of videos you can watch from workouts, recipes, and inspirational videos. It’s like having your own personal trainer that is at your pace. You can also keep track of your progress on the app and earn points to redeem for stuff. Definitely get a heart monitor that will connect to the app. It will be displayed on the screen as you workout so you know if you are over doing it or need to push it a little harder. I am three weeks in, just started week four today, and I have lost 9 lbs already. I am 52, a disabled veteran, have a screw and wire in my ankle, and arthritis in my back. I haven’t workout since I was in the Army and was pushing over 272 lbs at 6’3”. This is very low impact but gets your heart going and burns calories. I definitely recommend this program and app to anyone who wants to get in better shape but is worried about if they can do it. There is a series for limited mobility that starts off in bed. So if you can’t even get out of bed, you can still work on getting in better shape.
