Description

Available exclusively for Netflix members.

Escape a limitless castle with an undead twist in this roguevania action platformer. Find secrets, take down bosses, and if you die? Start from the bottom and reignite the fight.

You’re what’s left after a botched experiment in an abandoned castle made you a pile of undead sludge. All you need to escape is someone else’s less-than-alive body and the sheer will to battle your way through a constantly changing, pixel art castle full of rogue enemies and terrifying bosses. Learn the ropes of action-packed 2D combat and platform exploration, master a variety of weapons and develop your strengths as you unravel the secrets of the dungeon, the castle and whatever lies beyond.

Also: don’t worry about dying. That’s what the giant pile of corpses in the dungeon is for. Fight, learn, die, start over and keep getting better.

The Netflix edition includes all of the free and paid downloadable content created for the original game, so members can experience the full scope of their escape from the first awakening. Battle through the secret Arboretum in "The Bad Seed" expansion, hone your combat skills in "Rise of the Giant," rise from the dungeon to the shore with "Fatal Falls," fight the castle’s baddest boss in "The Queen and the Sea" and enlist the help of iconic Castlevania characters Alucard and Richter Belmont to take on Dracula in the ultra-retro "Return to Castlevania" DLC.

Features:

• Fight unique enemies in each castle biome and learn how to evade their special abilities.
• Loot and level up new weapons, advantages, genetic enhancements and more to customize your hero on every new escape attempt.
• Awaken into a new challenge every time you resurrect; with the castle’s magically shifting layout, no two runs will ever be the same.
• Explore secret areas within and around the castle to unlock big rewards (or even bigger bosses).

- From Motion Twin, Evil Empire and Playdigious.

Great game with needed updates

I don’t have many complaints about the gameplay and the game itself is fun and strategically balanced on how you should approach enemies. One thing that’s an absolute must is when you’re in battle and need to reload your health the hold to replenish is finicky. It should be a simple press because in difficult fighting situations it just doesn’t make sense holding the button while your enemies are still attacking you. Hopefully developers take note to the comments and consider this for their next patch update.

Game crashes

Dead cells is an amazing game that slowly grows on you. I’ve been playing it a lot recently, however, after some time, the game crashes and kicks you out of the app. You still left off from where you were but then it becomes continuous. I tried restarting my device and closing every app leaving only the dead cells app on and the crashes still occur. If this issue was fixed along with the audio and frame drops, I would give this game 5 stars

Edit: After testing the game out, frame drops and audio issues are guaranteed to happen when going through toxic sewers and, especially, ancient sewers. Overall, they occur after passing 2-3 domains. Restarting the app fixes it TEMPORARILY. The game then crashes when you unlock most of the weapons and items in the game. This occurs even after deleting the app completely and reinstalling it.

It’s truly a 5/5 game, bugs bring it down to 3

I say this as some one that loves this game and find it perfect to play on mobile w/touch screens. It takes while to get used to it but once you do this becomes one of the best games ever on mobile. I have the original iOS version of the app and I’m glad to have the Netflix version for all the dlc.

But the frame rate and audio bugs are very annoying. It doesn’t stop me from playing it whatsoever, but the workaround to quit the game and then quit the app itself then open it back up again is annoying to do 2-3 times per sit. I don’t really do reviews and don’t know if you can edit a previous review, but if an update fixes this then easily 5/5, best game ever for iPhone. Cheers
