nice quicky results
This app came out just as I was shopping for a new magnetic compass and was planning to go online to find out my magnetic declination. Great timing! The easiest way possible to find out what your dec. is wherever you are. I compared the data result from this app to what comes up at the Nat. Geophysical Data Center's (NGDC) magnetic declination calculator page of their website, and the two results were pretty close. This app's numbers deviate from the website's by about .68 of a degree, for my location. Not sure which source is fudging the numbers more, but what the heck, magnetic north keeps migrating anyway, and in all reality, that's about as accurate as you need to set the declination dial on a handheld magnetic compass. And for the price of FREE, who can complain?
Basic and useful
I would have done 5 stars, except that the Eastern declination is noted as negative (rather than positive) and respectively Western declination is flipped as well.
Good work, needs some improvement
Let me first appreciate your efforts. Magnetic declination from current location (GPS) works fine. I verified the values against NGDC's online calculators. One suggestion is to print the sign of the declination. For example, the - values represents the West declination and + values represents East declination. I tried Lat/Long option. I was "moved to" a location couple of degrees away from what I entered. I didn't check the UTM coordinate option.
