FILM PROFILES

PRESETS
Recreate retro film vibe with a large set of fine-tuned presets, developed by the Dehancer team and influencers from all over the world. Create and share your custom presets in a few taps.
PRINT TOOLS
Combine any film with a print profile to get a truly analog image. Every print medium has its own character, photo latitude and contrast, with a lot of controls, that make it a versatile creative tool.
FILM COMPRESSION
Emulate the film-like compressed tonal range by adjusting the highlights. The resulting image looks more analogue and becomes more flexible for further editing.
FILM GRAIN
Dehancer Grain stands out from the crowd. It isn’t just scanned and overlaid on the image. Instead, our unique algorithm turns an image into lots of little granules, based on local color and brightness of the scene. Film Grain is fully customisable, of course.
HALATION
Halation is an inherent film emulsion effect, a red-orange halo around light sources, specular highlights and contrasting edges. It also makes skin tone more attractive and natural. In Dehancer this effect is reproduced as close as possible to the real film.
BLOOM
Bloom originates in the lens and is amplified by the emulsion. Also called ‘glow’ or ‘mist’ it helps to achieve this warm vintage film look and is useful in simulating optical filters and small format films. Dehancer accurately replicates the real physics of light and simulates the Bloom effect in the most analogous way, with lots of controls.
VIGNETTE
Vignetting is usually considered a lens flaw, but it is also a great tool to add depth and set the accent in the frame. For best results adjust Vignette at the start of processing, as it greatly affects exposure and contrast.
FILM BREATH & GATE WEAVE
Animated effects dynamically bring video to life by making subtle changes and picture shifts between adjacent frames, just like in the real film movie.

Not bad
I love the colors and a possibility to edit settings inside the preset.
What is missed for me: crop tool, organizer, the ability to edit more than one photos at a time (like in Lightroom for example). So most of all I pay in this app for right colors, grain etc in my photographs, not for a user-friendly interface. And I repeat: the colors are great.
A must-have for getting that much closer to film
I don’t know if I’ve ever gone out of my way to write a positive review about an application in my 10+ of using the App Store, but I must here. Most people are using this to get closer to a “film” look in digital process, and your toolset is not complete without using Dehancer. The bloom, halation, and the remainder of the editing tools are the cornerstones of my final touches when I export from LR as a TIFF into Dehancer. There have been many improvements made to the app since I purchased in January, so I forgive any intermittent oddities, because at least I know they’re being worked on. One feature that I do wish was present, however, was the ability to add halation from Cinestill, which is something I currently need to do in another application. I would also like to be able to edit a DNG or other RAW file straight within Dehancer, and maybe you can, I just don’t know how. I appreciate that the tools are unique to this application and not just another take on the same old photo editing tool. Even if the ends are the same at times, I think there’s value at looking at your workflow in a different way because sometimes you’ll come to a different result; a result you like better than had you been doing your typical process elsewhere. Worth the subscription fee. Hands down.
Great for getting the film look!
I’ve really enjoyed using Dehancer for quickly getting a nice filmic look out of my photos! It’s a quick and easy workflow for posting instagram stories and such. They’ve improved it significantly and consistently update it, so while it may have been a bit of a bumpy start, I think it’ll only continue to get better! I have an iPhone 12 and the new video feature provides great colors, but it can be a bit processor heavy, so for video clips longer than a minute, it may take 5-7 mins to render. But again just like the much improved photo editing stability on the newest update, I’m hopeful that the video capabilities will only get better + our phones improving as well!
