So non-functional, I had to go find a printed program
The app has worked fine for past years, but sometime in the middle of the day on Friday, the first day of DPCC 2019, the app froze up, and the only way to make it useable again was to delete it and reinstall it. I’ve done this at least half a dozen times since then, and it’s only noon on the last day of the Con now. My husband got so frustrated, he won’t even reinstall it, and we decided to pick up a paper program instead. Hardware are newest XS Max and XR iPhones with iOS updated, if that’s relevant.
It would be nice to be able to customize searches in the guest lineup, as in, being able to search using different parameters, like, just actors, or just authors, or whatever. I’d also like to be able to share schedules via text message, so that I can send all or part of a guest schedule or my personal schedule to whomever I’m attending the Con with, and they can add it to their schedule, or view my schedule, or vice versa. But mainly, I just want a functional app.
Love the color scheme but the actual app...
I’ve had to delete and reinstall the app in order to get it to work. I gave up trying to create a schedule on there and chose to just use the paper schedule instead. The app has functioned well at the con. No issues with it crashing or getting stuck loading.
So the convention starts in just a few days and I cannot open the app. It’ll start but then it crashes. No matter what I do. Do I dare hope it is fixed before the Con?
This is being written 13 days before the convention starts. The real test, of course, is at the convention.
- I can’t sort the schedule by rooms, only themes. There is no way to only see the schedules for the Captain America and Night Lynx stages which is where the top-billed celebs do their interviews/Q&A. You can find the events but you have to scroll through “all events” to find each one.
- each event shows up twice under “My Schedule”.
- The entries for the merchants and artists have URLs to their websites but you can’t click on them. You have to copy and paste. But yet I can go directly to DCC’s website in the app.
- Same setup as last years convention app. - Seems to be operating a little smoother and faster this year.
- So far it hasn’t crashed on me.
Not very helpful
If you download this app, make sure to grab a hard copy program when you arrive. First and biggest problem IMO is the fact that it has to have a continuous signal to use. With the number of people at the con, getting service to pull up the app is nightmarish. Once I arrive, I don’t have much chance of using this anymore. The developers really need to make it self contained with the ability to update if there are changes to the schedule. Second, you cant use to “show on map” feature from each panel. Even though they went through the trouble to add it to each entry. You have to go all the way back to the map feature and try to find your destination from there. If you want to really add this feature it should pull up the map itself when you press the link and highlight where you’re supposed to go. All in all, almost useless.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
