LOVE IT!!

What a great way to keep my desktop clean and organized. Love the way that the window collapses when not using! Only issues (and these are minor) is the window flickers a bit when opening occasionally and the resize grab area on the sides is sometimes a bit tricky to grab. I would recommend this!!

Great unless you use the command line

Works fine, but in order to group your files, it moves them into subfolders which are a pain to navigate with the command line. The whole point of my desktop (the way I use it at least) is to hold all (and only) the files I'm working on at a given time. That way I have everything at a glance, and can pull up any relevant data very quickly. It does get messy, and when I'm juggling 3 or 4 projects at once for work, groups seemed like an ideal solution: one group per project and everything's easier to see. Unfortunately, it moves your files into subfolders to track the groups, rather than using its own internal database to do so. This is fine for most users, but when half the files I'm working on are scripts and I have to cd into subdirectories to run them all the time, it's not worth it. Great concept, would buy the full version in a heartbeat if the groupings were visual only, and not reflected in the file system. An option to pick which method is used would be even better.

This App Made My Files Disappear

Forgive the reference to magicians, but that is actually what happened. I installed the lite version, create a few groups, and added the files from my desktop. Many of these files were relatively important and maybe that is my mistake for experimenting with them. When I noticed that the app was running in the dock, I closed the app to see if the groups would remain. When the app closes, so do the groups. But when I relaunched the app, there were no groups. And what is worse, when I checked the "desktop groups" folder that was created by the app, the files were no longer stored there. I checked the trash and even searched the entire hard drive by keywords from the names of the missing files, but they were nowhere to be found. Very disappointed in this experience. At least I can redownload a few of the lots files, although most are lost forever in the desktop group abyss…be careful with this one, or just avoid altogether.
