** No more chaos on your desktop. Keep related files on in groups. **

Lifehacker verdict: “If you've got a messy desk, this app can help you regain control.”

The app lets you create groups of related files on your desktop. You can freely move groups of files around on your desktop and add or remove files via drag & drop.

Each group has a title so that you can organize your files any way you like. For example, you could create separate groups for each project you are working on, or add separate groups for photos and text documents. If you frequently take screenshots, that would be another good fit for a group. The possibilities are endless.

Quick Look integration: press Space or Cmd-Y to open a Quick Look preview of the selected file.

• Group related files on your desktop
• Add/remove files via drag & drop
• Freely move groups around
• Resize groups by dragging either edge/corner
• Rename by double-clicking on the group title
• Context menu with more options
• Dock or menu bar icon (choose via Preferences)

• Additional list view with file names to the right of icons
• Adjust opacity of title and group background
• Change the background color
• Hide the reflections
• Adjust the grid size

What’s New

Version 1.6

The folder that contains the files in your groups is now called "All Your Desktop Groups Files" instead of just "Desktop Groups" so that it shows up at the top in Finder for easier access.

Works good on one screen.

This is a great app. Would give it 5 stars if it worked with multiple screens. I have 3 screens and would like to place groups on each of the 3 screens. The software allows me to place groups on the extra screens, however, everytime my computer goes to sleep the groups on the extra screens get sent back to the main screen and get rearranged and overlapped on top of each other. Other than that fantastic idea and great app! Thank you

Fences for OS X almost!

I will start of by saying I love this app, I only bought it because I am a user of Stardock’s Fences for Windows on my home PC. I wanted something similar for my MacBook Pro. Desktop Groups is the answer. I only have a few suggestions that would make this great. 1. You can drop files and folders into the desktop groups but cannot add anything to folders in already in the group; this is one of the features that is missing that would make it an identical clone of fences. 2. Backup is also another good feeature to add. 3. Autosorting options would be great as well. 4. This is really a Mac only feature request if possible, different desktop groups for each group.

I would give a full five stars if only the first suggestion was implemented, anything more would knock the rating of the charts.

Just one thing...

I love the app. Use it on several Macs. PLEASE work on the alias problem. Selecting an alias from a Desktop Group works sometimes but not always. It works fine on one of my macs but not all of them and they are Identical Mac minis. Only difference is the monitors. It’s a great app. Just work on that, please. Gladly pay ten times the price if that worked perfectly.
