I love this app! Easy to use/user friendly, great features like crash notifications to next of kin/emergency contacts, notifies friends when you are out riding so they can track your live progress and position (if it is turned on), and automatically pauses the ride when you’re sitting at a light or stop somewhere, so it is only tracking actual ride time and statistics. Lets you save routes and rides, and gives you a ton of information about your speed, elevation, acceleration, etc. Great concept for an app and would definitely recommend!

I’ve used this app with great success around the house on shorter trips. I finally took a longer trip to the mountains and this app let me down every time I used it. On the way up it closed after a rest stop and I didn’t notice and got way off course. I’ll put this on the phone for closing the app but my phone has never closed it like this before. The next day I had a great round trip planned and after less than 10 minutes it added unreachable waypoints that caused the navigation to run in circles. This effectively ruined the planned route since you can’t bypass waypoints. I never got more than 15 minutes or so without it doing this and since I had no idea where I was I’d have to stop and try again. I started picking destinations without waypoints and it seemed to help but it would put me on roads no street oriented bike should ever go on, creating some stressful and unpleasant situations. I’ve lost all faith in this app’s ability to get me where I want to go and have canceled my premium subscription since the extra features aren’t worth the money. On the way home I used Google maps which worked flawlessly even in areas where Detecht had problems.

I am currently on a cross country trip from Oregon to Florida on my motorcycle and I could use this app for maybe half a state. It does good route planning for curvy roads with the subscription, but that’s about it. While riding it was constantly bugging and trying to have me turn at every street only to make a circle and get back on the same route. I had to re input the destination as many as 5 times to get it to stop doing that and then a little while of working correctly it would go back to the same issue. The crash detection is a cool feature but my Apple Watch has that so it’s not a necessity. As far as I can tell there isn’t a way to add a quick stop so you can hit a near by gas station on the way which would be helpful. Also, a good feature would be to input the mileage per tank you get on your bike for those without a meter that can warn you when you are getting close to empty. Has the potential to be a good app but not quite there.

I’ve been using this app for a few days now, so this review is subject to change over time. So far I really like the app during my daily commute, it keeps track of my travel time and average speed. It also does a good job of keeping track of the speed limit of the road that I’m on (it would be nice if there were a setting to keep the speed limit pop up, even when not on a route)One big issue I’ve come across so far is that the crash detection test appears to automatically close the app at random times. I tried it 5 times and only once did it send the test text to my emergency contacts. I had to tap the send button 5 times, so I fear it might not work in the event of a real emergency where I am unable to tap the button.

This app has so much potential. I like it so far and I did get the premium features because I want to support this app, but would like to see the following:1. Being able to choose which vehicle are using on a specific route. This way, you can see how many miles you’ve done on a specific vehicle (I have a Harley and a Ruckus) and the routes taken with each vehicle.2. Being able to add another Detecht user to your route. This way if that user forgets to start their Detecht, they still have a way to add a route ridden for that other user. This feature would also help build up the Detecht community because you would be able to send add requests to riders that aren’t on Detecht.3. Being more clear on how to create a route. Even if it means adding a button that says Create A Route, then it’s crystal clear how to create a route.4. Being able to edit the routes while in the “preview on map” mode. It takes a while having to enter specific addresses to be able to take a different rode than the suggest route. It would be nice to be able to drag a point on the route to change where to go.I also had an issue with importing a GPX file. I tried both on the phone and the computer to upload but all it does is says “Converting GPX file to route…” but nothing ever happens. At this very moment I have waited 30 minutes for it to finish converting but still nothing. It would be great if this could be fixed because I would love to use the turn by turn direction with a custom route I created.For now, I’ll give it 3 stars but if could it would be 3.5 stars because while it does have good features (like the crash detection) the other features still need some polishing to make it great. I was using it for daily commutes without an issue for about six months. Went on a long ten day road trip and it stopped tracking/crashed on day one less than an hour into the ride. Got it back up and running for day two. Day two I stopped it when I got gas about two hours away. Went to start it again and it wouldn’t load. Tried multiple times, resetting the app, nothing worked. All that to say, it was reliable around town, but as soon as I wanted to track longer journeys, it quit on me. Glad I stayed safe and didn’t need the crash detection, but some of the highways were dead zones and I don’t know what I would’ve done if something did happen.

The Detecht app has quickly become my goto for tracking and directions. It’s easy to use and like other riders I prefer to pay attention to the roadway and traffic. That said, I’ve found the placement of my phone on the handlebars is very important as I now actually have my head up more. I do not have to look down at the speedometer at all as my driving speed is displayed on the screen. Speed limits are not always accurate but it’s all good. I feel very confident with the apps’ performance for wherever I choose to ride. Stay safe out there!

Tried this out on a long ride for the first time during the free trial, after a little bit of learning I was easily on my way planning my whole ride out on the app. The only think I feel is missing is a few more options for long-haul type ride like something where I can set navigation style differently between stops on the route that way I don’t have to make multiple routes for mixing and matching between fun time and I gotta get there time. Overall, a great app!

I downloaded the app I selected miles in settings and was showing kilometers and at that time I was unable to go back into settings to change it to miles.After a small glitch the app has been updated and working as intended and I cannot wait to use it again! The software company personally contacted me in a very short time to resolve my problem. VERY VERY Impressed with the way my issues was handled. I would highly recommend this app and any app that this company produces. They stood behind their product!

I have used this app for about a month and it is great recording rides. I really like the addition of the crash alarm, can’t say if it actually works (I will assume that’s good news, haven’t crashed yet) but the simulation alarm worked great.Haven’t used the navigation portion yet, still using maps for that but it appears to be user friendly.Haven’t really considered PRO yet don’t have a reason too. Why did I give it five stars then, for what I use it for, recording rides and the ability to have a potential crash alarm to warn someone “pimp down”. I like it!
