A surreal thriller in which the written word is your map, as well as your narrator.
DEVICE 6 plays with the conventions of games and literature, entwines story with geography and blends puzzle and novella, to draw players into an intriguing mystery of technology and neuroscience.
Anna wakes up in a castle on a remote island, with little recollection of how she got there. All she remembers is an unusually unpleasant doll.
Why are there two identical castles on the island? Who is the mysterious man in the bowler hat? And above all, what is the purpose of the tests Anna is put through?
Read, listen and peek into three-dimensional photographs to solve the bizarre mysteries of DEVICE 6.
"DEVICE 6 is designed to linger in the mind long after the last code has been cracked and the last sentence read. Spy stories - even traditional ones - often haunt their readers' dreams once they've been completed. It's only appropriate, really. Is that a final full-stop or a microdot? Is this the end of the affair or an invitation to go deeper?"
Eurogamer - 9/10
"In using its text both as narrative and as geography – and through its impressively restrained use of illustration and sound – it generates an almost unrivalled sense of place. It isn’t embarrassed to allow Device 6 to be a game when it needs to be, and yet it knows precisely when to let the story take over. The result is a sharp, striking mystery that is at once provocative, extraordinarily stylish and altogether essential"
EDGE - 9/10
"In turning a text adventure into a world map, Simogo has resurrected a long-dead genre with style and confidence. Great presentation and brilliant puzzles complete a stellar package"
Pocketgamer – 9/10
"Ever exceeding expectations, the developer has followed up one of 2013′s highlights with another title that can be classed as such. With a compelling story that keeps you guessing, and a pin-point utilisation of the platform, Device 6 is an accomplishment in games design, mobile or otherwise"
God is a Geek - 9/10
"DEVICE 6 not only explores the boundaries of narrative storytelling, it also demonstrates the creative potential of touchscreen gaming"
Appspy – 5/5

Once again we're in awe of what the amazing minds at Simogo (Year Walk, Beat Sneak Bandit) have crafted. This ingenious blend of text adventure and interactive novel will have you flipping and twisting your device, re-reading previous story elements as you uncover new clues, and finding meaning in the seemingly insignificant pictures and audioclips that pepper your screen. If you crave mind-bending puzzles and welcome a hearty challenge, you’ll savor every minute of Device 6’s absorbing mystery.
I am ashamed.
Ashamed of rating other games five stars. That's literally how good of a game this is. As another reviewer said, it's absolutely perfect as a puzzler because it's just challenging enough for me to have to really think over the hints and clues given throughout the text and in the pictures and yes, even the audio, but not so difficult that I ever had to look up a walk through on the internet (you will NOT be able to progress without the audio, so don't purchase this game if you cannot listen to the audio for whatever reason.) The story is superb, and keeps the game from being JUST a puzzler. I love reading a good book, and I love puzzle games, and this game combines the two in such a nearly flawless manner that I can make no complaints (besides my ADHD keeping me from being able to process the significance of the different devices as they are introduced one at a time throughout the game/story). I've always loved coming back to a book and rereading it later and I believe that I will similarly love coming back to this book in the future.
As I said, in the future, I shall be MUCH more hesitant about giving a game a 5 star rating, because this game outshines others so much.
Best Book/Game I ever read/played.
Other reviewers have said enough about Device 6. Its awesome. If you love a good short story then you’ll love this. The story doesn’t reveal overtly (i.e. who are the people controlling the game, what is it that they are doing and why are they sound it?) itself but leaves lots of clues and had me and my son talking about it for a week after we played it.
One thing that no one mentioned is the song by Jonathan Eng called Ana. This song is just as amazing as the game and fits so perfectly. The song is great and deserves to be played on the radio. Kinda funny how such a seemingly happy song can give you chills. I kinda want to forget the song and game go together just so I can enjoy it without thinking of evil captures. Still, it works. Just like everything in this game works. My only complaint was I wish there were multiple storylines because it would have been fun to explore the story from different angles. We played it twice just to be sure and all roads lead to the same end.
That being said, I hope the developers and writers come out with more high quality games like this.
