Vim is a highly customizable and extensible text editor.
It was originally built to work in the terminal.
It is lightweight, portable and starts up quickly.
Vim was chosen as a default terminal text editor
by many OS distributions including macOS.
For example git on macOS uses Vim by default when it asks to write a commit message.
The Vim text editor is a mature software developed since 90-s.
It has a lot of fans who value its stability, compatibility
Vim has a long history since 1990-s and a well-established fan base.
It is known for stability, high backwards compatibility
and presense on many systems.
Neovim is an evolution of Vim.
It adds improvements upon the Vim extensibility features.
Neovim wraps the Vim core text editor component
and exposes it for application and plugin authors.
The original Vim used to work in the terminal without GUI.
Neovim bridges such UI and the Vim engine.
DinVim uses Neovim to package the Vim engine as a native macOS application.
The DinVim UI follows the macOS interface guidelines to provide seamless native experience.
The App Sandbox technology imposes restrictions on the application
which lead to improved security and expected predictability of a text editor application.
* The Vim engine is upgraded to neovim v0.3.1.
* Fixed issues with Chinese, Japanese, Korean languages support.
* Improved File - Open and Close to work with multiple files in Vim windows.
* Fixed copy-pasting non-latin text.
* Fixed cursor issues in INSERT mode.

Just purchased, and it simply is not working at all. Can't open anything using this program. Would like a refund.

nothing happens when you load a file, close the window, … always the same black screen

Hello. Please try the latest version. This issue was fixed for some users.
Nice VI Implementation
I got this on a whim since I was looking for a VIM like tool. I sometimes work from the command line and will pop a gvim window (in linux for example) with a file I want to work on. DinVim lets me do this nicely on a Mac with a very quick launchtime and clean/pretty interface.
For me, I added a line to my .profile of
alias vim='open -a /Applications/DinVim.app/Contents/MacOS/DinVim’
So I can just type vim from anywhere with a command line argument of the file I want to work with and it opens in its own window. if I just type in vi I still get the OS level VI editor. My alias is vim only because I am used to typing that everywhere and besides, DinVim is vim :-)
For me this is a really nice VI option which I have had absolutely no issues with it. It is lightweight and even the way it highlights text is visually pleasing and easy to read.
My one wish is that it looks for an existing .vimrc and either reads it or imports what it can support from it. That will make it easier for people to transition from other VIM tools to this one seamlessly. This is a very small but handy thing.
For a version 1.0 tool, it already is really nice. I look forwards to futore updates and will update this review as the product evolves.
