I came here because I wasn’t able to install the Blackhole driver, only to have the same error when trying to install the virtual mic driver .pkg.After some digging, I found out that the command they’re using to restart coreaudiod is outdated, and doesn’t work on Sequoia and probably even on Sonoma. You need to use “sudo /usr/bin/killall coreaudiod” on the postinstall file instead.This was mentioned on at least one Github issue that was closed, I understand that developing software is hard, but you should test installation and use at least every major macOS release.

I tried BlackHole first, and found it rather difficult to configure for my needs. After an hour or two of tinkering, I got something that was just barely workable for my use case. It was also cumbersome to set up and tear down when switching between my use case and regular computer use.Then I found Dipper, and it’s exactly what I needed. Zero fuss, easy to use, with consumer-quality UI and OS integration.I ran into the known issue of the virtual mic reporting a failure to install, but I followed their instructions on the linked help page to simply restart and indeed all was well afterward.

It’s a bit buggy, and I wish it remembered my settings longer BUT after trying dozens of other free and paid apps this is the one that JUST WORKS and I’m glad I found it. It’s essential for online music lessons. Thanks!

I had which turned out to be two very minor problems, and the developer was very prompt in responding to my initial message and worked with me to solve the problems. I was very very impressed with the level of service. I haven't had a chance to fully use the app quite yet. But I have no doubt that it will work fine as I have another one of his apps Black Hole that works great.
