Description

DirEqual is a tool that makes it incredibly easy to compare local files and folders on your Mac.
DirEqual displays compared directories side by side as expandable trees, and the size and date are indicated for each item. Differences between the directories are indicated with colour and easy to identify icons.
To copy or delete files or folders, click an individual item to choose the appropriate action.
The action is represented with red and blue arrows. Then click the "Execute" button to synchronise the two folders.

DirEqual allows you to create snapshots of any folder.
Later you can use the snapshot to compare with other folders or see what has changed in the folder over time.

Main features:

- Side-by-side folder comparison
- Create Folder Snapshots
- Compare files by content
- Manually synchronise compared folders
- Compare items based on a filename template
- Remembers compared folders for quick reload
- Intuitive graphical comparison result view
- Tabbed window
- Drag and drop support

Pricing
To fully use DirEqual, you should subscribe or purchase a one-time, lifetime license. After subscribing to the application, a 7-day trial period is activated. You can cancel your subscription at any time within the first 7 days and your account will not be charged. You can unsubscribe using the App Store application, in your account settings.

Pros and cons

I'm trying to do a massive file cleanup, copying and comparing multiple folders over a network. The upside is that this app is very fast. It doesn't bog down and crash just opening the file directory which has happened to me on a couple of other programs.

I have a couple of major issues tho: Mostly that the directions seem unclear. Is the "compare file content" on or off when the background of it is blue? Why won't some of my files replace other files even when the dates and file sizes are the same? Why are there two "identical" symbols - one has wiggly lines, the other doesn't? Why are my files sometimes show as identical when the dates are different and I don't have "ignore dates" turned on?

I'm muddling through by running various operations over and over and making sure I double triple check every file, but I feel like this is a lot more time consuming than it would be if the support information were more than a few paragraphs on only one page. Four stars because it doesn't crash, it's fast, and it's not corrupting my files when it does copy them, but I'm really struggling to understand the variables in this program. Maybe a support message board for users to ask one another questions, or even a Reddit sub or something, would help.

Can show tag differences

Just what I needed! I have duplicate folders of pictures where I've tagged some files in each one. This app shows the different TAGS on the duplicate files so when I'm deleting duplicates I can delete the ones with the fewer tags.

To the developer, you should update the description to mention that the app supports MacOS File Tags.

Great App, straight forward

This app works as stated and more. I needed to compare files in 2 directories down t the file and size. One being on a stick and the other on the MAC. Not only does it have 10 selection but you can select type of files. In addtion, when clicking on a file, the directory containing the file opens so you can see the file and it's folder. I've used complicated compare utilities and this one get to the point and I did not need to waste time figuring it out. I may have been abel to use the free dnload however, when a proram works and resonably priced... I gladly paided for it. Good job Naarak Studio/DirEqual
