I'm a puzzle game fanatic of sorts. Typically play Best Fiends or Toonblast (the King games like Candy Crush are worn out.) I was sooo excited to see my childhood favorites show up in a puzzle game and it's proven to be one of my all-time favorites. It's fair with respect to lives- in toon blast, you're practically forced to pay money to keep playing. With Majestic Quest you slowly earn coins with every win to be able to purchase an additional 5 lives and last me another 45 minutes or so. The way the game plays is, in itself, far more fun because you have more options with combos and specials. I've filled up my coin bank but can't find diddly squat online about what is inside. I'd give it 4.5 stars if possible just because it seems they want me to buy things without having any idea what is inside and some things about the game aren't exactly self explanatory. (IE: you can earn stars with one character and use them to unlock a level for another.) My ONLy other complaint is they need more levels!!! Keep em comin', cause I'm loving this game!!!
Great game but still very buggy
I love this game. It is a cute puzzle game that has a nice little storyline with it. It doesn’t have the 3 star rating system, which I like. You’re doing the puzzles to earn a static number of stars regardless of how long it takes you or how many moves. You then spend those stars to complete objectives that move along the story. Only downside is there is no pause function that would allow you to close the app during a level and come back to it but that’s a minor thing.
I only deducted a star because it still has some big bugs. When I first opened the app, it somehow loaded with a 3rd of the screen off my screen. Since I’m playing on the iPad Pro 12.9 inch, that’s pretty strange, but that fixed with a reload of the game. I had to do some troubleshooting to get it to connect with Facebook since it kept routing me between the two apps without actually connecting. Logging in in the window rather than letting it open the Facebook app fixed that.
The biggest issue though is that the game freezes and then crashes in the middle of a level. This then registers as you quitting and uses a life as well as renders any power ups you used useless. This is especially frustrating when you’re two moves away from winning a level you had to do more than once and now you’re back at square one but down all those lives. Definitely something that should be fixed because you don’t get many lives or many free power ups and I’ve had quite a few wasted from crashes.
I love a good match 3 style game, but this one has an added story element that makes it so charming. I save up my stars and read the storyline to my 4 year old, and we have had a nice time bonding over her (and my) favorite princesses.
I’m currently finished with all available levels, and anxiously awaiting more to be added. This was done completely without in app purchases, few power ups, and only rarely a use of 900 coins to add a few moves to the harder levels. So for all the complaints about it being too hard or too expensive, I think a strategy change is in order. I found the levels to be perfectly challenging.
Only deducted a star for the freezing issue, as others have stated. I know this is still a new game, so I’m sure many things are still being worked out, but it does nevertheless need to be addressed.
Also thought it was a little weird that ads started popping up after around level 150, and often times the banner ad covered nearly all of the “play” button when trying to start a new game, but it still let me press it. Just a minor inconvenience.
Overall, a great game. I hope to see more levels added soon so we can continue Ariel’s story.
