Description

Fluent Math uses a smart method called spaced repetition to make you master division. Practice without stress and learn to divide from memory!

Practice in 5-minute sessions, preferably twice a day. Getting good at division frees up your working memory, making it easier to tackle all kinds of math problems.

Just start practicing! Fluent Math figures out which division facts you need to work on, making sure you learn at your own pace and repeat at the right time. As you get better, you earn points. Reach 1000 points, and you’ve covered all the facts efficiently!

Practice in a way that’s fun, relaxed, and super effective!

(There is also a multiplication variant of this app, which might be good to start with. Search for "fluentmath")

AUDIO FEEDBACK
Audio feedback with the correct answer is available in English or the following iOS languages when set: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Greek, Chinese, Hindi, Russian, Japanese, Arabic, Bengali, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish.

INFO FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
Fluent Math is suitable for students with basic understanding and strategies in place but who are not yet automatic, or for students in upper grades who don't know their facts well enough.

The app allows the student to go from their own strategies to automaticity in a unique way without time pressure. It combines two of the most efficient study techniques, active recall, and spaced repetition, with feedback and individual adaptation.

VARIANTS
The app offers free division with numbers up to 7. Upgrade to premium for access to division with numbers up to 12. For a paid version (eg for VPP), search for "fluentmath". The app is also available as a free web app (without audio).

HOW IT WORKS
The entire table is reviewed in small rolling sets. Each student will progress at the right pace for them.
Known facts are quickly verified. For facts not automated yet, students will have time to think and use their own strategies without time pressure. Each fact is then practiced a couple of times in succession until it can either be pulled from memory or answered efficiently. Spaced repetition with active retrieval helps in committing them to long-term memory.
Learn, repeat, recall => automaticity.

LONG-TERM REPETITION
Since unused knowledge weakens, it is a good idea to review the tables annually. Consistent, long-term use of the app helps students of all ages with automaticity of the division tables.

RESEARCH
The solution has been inspired by research about active recall, spaced repetition, and interleaving.

Why does ot happen when I “take to long”

Developer Response ,

When you take a bit longer to answer, the app thinks you might not have that fact memorized yet. It shows and says the answer, giving you extra time to focus. Try using that time to really remember the fact for next time!
