Description

The Problem:
Managing windows can be frustrating, requiring precision control of your mouse or trackpad for clicking, dragging, pushing and pulling your windows to the size and position you desire. Even with all this work, it’s very difficult to get windows exactly where you want them, so most of the time windows are left scattered all over the screen.

The Solution:
Divvy, a solution for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, is an entirely new way of managing your windows. It allows you to quickly and efficiently "divvy up" your screen into exact portions. This lets you take maximum advantage of your screen real estate without any hassle at all. Window management has never been this easy.

With Divvy, it’s as simple as a single click and drag in the Divvy interface and your window will be resized and moved to a relative portion of the screen. If that seems like too much work, you can go ahead and create as many different shortcuts as you'd like that resize and move your windows.

Divvy is designed to be quick, simple and elegant, staying out of your way as much as possible while providing the most powerful window management available today.

Features:
• Resize your windows with the innovative Divvy grid
• Customizable grid size (from 1x1 up to 20x20)
• Works with multiple monitors
• Unlimited user-customizable keyboard shortcuts
• Access Divvy at any time using a configurable global hotkey or menu bar icon

What’s New

Still works on M1/M2 Ventura; settings moved

I would give this a five if there were three improvements.

Problem one: the documentation is out of date for the latest version of Ventura. To add Divvy to the accessibilities settings, don't go to Settings > Accessibility. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. There you can add Divvy to the applications list.

Two: new feature request - have a shortcuts/settings export/import feature. I've set up my shortcuts on a few different machines as I've switched out machines. Manually recreating all my global shortcuts is a PITA.

Three: new feature request - allow a "move" shortcut that will move the current window one column or row up or down. Combine that with a grow/shrink by one row/column and this would be tops.

Overall, I love that I can use keyboard shortcuts to easily place windows into set sizes and locations. I wish I could manipulate the window via keyboard too, but moving to a desired location/size is great.

WOW~!!! from an X-Ultramon User

This product is so intuitive and functional! A little tinkering and this software is a must have! I am a heavy mulit-monitor user within the windows environment (3 monitors) and have used many different software for multi-window management and ended up with Ultramon for windows for YEARS. I was looking for a Mac equivelant since there is no Ultramon for Mac. Online Forums and other sites mentioned SizeUp and was right about to purchase it as a standalone product, but decided to search for it on the app store, and I'm glad I did and saw this app and read the amazing reviews. At first, I thought the app was WAY too simple for my needs, but as I read through the instructions, it was way more intuitive and advanced than I thought. The only thing I would improve about this app was that the Devs should make all the checkboxes "on" by default in the General Tab: Start Divvy, Show Divvy, Keep Panel open until dismissed, cycle between screens...

And the shortcuts should always have "Global Shortcut" enabled by default (or else why use it?). All in all, such a great product I now can't live without and glad it's on the app store (for auto-updates, etc). I'm now going to purchase this for my Windows machines as well. GREAT PRODUCT~!!!

More Than Just a Window Manager: A Solution for Overcoming OS Glitches

This is the best window manager I've ever used, requiring just a single keyboard shortcut to access its full range of functions. While Magnet is commendable, remembering all its shortcuts can be challenging. Occasionally, with multiple external monitors connected, a window might not appear on any screen, an issue not necessarily caused by window management apps, as it also occurs without them. However, Divvy effortlessly resolves such glitches. By simply resizing or relocating the invisible window onto one of the monitors, it magically reappears. Beyond just managing windows, I've found Divvy invaluable for correcting other OS bugs. It has been reliably performing since I installed it 7 years ago across every operating system I've tried, without a single hitch.
