Ratings and Reviews
To be blunt, this is an absolutely killer app! I have been a DJ for 17 years. I used CDs for nearly the entire time. I started using the DJ app when I got my iPad in November of last year. It has been nothing short of revolutionary for me. That app blended so well with iTunes and made performing so much easier; it was hard to believe. I'm now able to concentrate more on my performance and less on the actual loading and mixing of songs that my shows have vastly improved. Some of the new features that I like are (in no particular order): the ability to rotate the iPad and see a single platter and then easily switch over to the other deck. 2. I also like the check marks that indicate that a song has been played already with the playlist. 3. The colorized wave display of the track is a welcome change as well. 4.The improved access to the effects options and the new preloaded sound pad/drum machine. 5. The improved master tempo/pitch control response and effectiveness. 6. The improved gain sliders. Now let the record show, I never said that I was a great DJ, just one who can read a crowd and throw a party. The DJ app is a total game changer, one that can be used to make a DJ's life easier and ultimately more enjoyable. I could not recommend this more. Have fun with this intuitive and innovative app. DISCLOSURE: This is the only app that I have used for DJing with my iPad. The experience has been that good. So good in fact I see no reason to try another one. Cheers!
Stick to older version
I am in the middle any more with this one. Newer reviews have all been wiped out. Most likely because all the massive complaints about moving to a subscription. Dont upgrade and pay for it if you can stick to older version. Waste your money if ya do. I use djay2. Paid for pro version, which is lost for some reason, but it did no more than the free version as far as i can recall. Subscription is ridiculous to have turntable mixing abilities. Yes this is a pretty good app, but there is no way i will pay subscription month after month. A one time fee was acceptable until that one just disappeared from my ipad, iphone and even in my account where it shows all the apps ive ever bought or downloaded. Got my $20 once, but taking the app away will keep me from ever financially supporting further. I do not take kind to being cheated and or ripped off. Will always keeps me from trusting you again.
I've used all software and hardware from 12s and GLI mixer, to virtual DJ Pro, Serato itch scratch and live on ddj-six and wego and I have not had more fun than playing with this device. Works great with the pioneer ddj-wego... looking forward to more controller options keep up the good work. It's a great option for traveling when you're just trying to put sets together and you don't need to carry a bunch of equipment or laptop works wonderfully that way. One of the cool features is the ability to change the key and match the key on the fly great option so you can actually harmonically match different songs that otherwise would not be compatible. The effects section is like Christmas time. The other cool feature is the sampler bank that you can customize and and save it as favorites ... really really user-friendly. Other then maybe virtual DJ Pro this software analyzes songs and is more consistent with getting the beat grid correct the first time and if it is off it is really easy to edit. Also the sync button is probably one of the best at maintaining the synchronization of the beats between songs especially with older records with tempo changes quite a bit. Only two things need to get fixed 1) the percentages on the BPM's need to go away and 2)the looping in out should allow you to pick the section exactly the way you want instead of default auto increments. Overall outstanding software
