I’ve paid for and utilized this service for years. However, I’ve only just gotten around to examining their Privacy Policies. Something that many neglect. Yes, there is data collected. No, any form of data collected (usage and so on) poses a minor security risk.DNSecure is right below this when I search “DNS Override”. It tracks no data and I think that it’s free.Override does as it says, I’ve analyzed the traffic and it is routed properly. But, when it comes down to data-collected and Privacy Policy, I think that I will be switching to the latter.
I find this app quite hard to understand how to make use of it. Its explanations and advertisements are quite complicated for ordinary people to understand. It best works with those who have a good knowledge of IT, especially networking-related skills. So, to make sure that this app would benefit or target ordinary customers too, I would recommend the app developer to have a short video tutorial (maybe around 5 to 10 minutes) detailing how to effectively use this app and what the benefits are for them to buy this app’s In-App Purchase services. I know everyone would love to have such a useful app as this one because when they travel abroad, they are restricted to use only certain websites or apps and this app can free those restrictions. Another problem with this app is that it just charges users 1.99$ right out of the box before having a free trial to see how it goes first. And for those DNS servers that do allow free trials, they also restrict users from certain countries like Vietnam or Cambodia. I am in Cambodia now and I can’t use the trials. Coming to this stage, my question is what is the point of having this app if countries that are geographically restricted are still geographically restricted by this app? I think the app developer needs to understand that the targeted users are from those geographically restricted locations. That’s why the app’s services are bought in the first place.
I’ve tried multiple times and even restarted my iPhone but the app would not change the dns server for cellular as advertised and the reason I paid for the upgrade (you can change WiFi dns in settings without any app, but not cellular which is why this app is even in existence). The dns leak test , even the one that’s in the app, shows T-Mobile dns after I’ve “forced” it to something else in the app. Disappointing. Also the app claims no VPN is used but they add a VPN profile to your device which stays disconnected. I’m curious about the hack they were trying to exploit in iOS but it obviously doesn’t work for cellular and concerned about potential privacy implications.
I’m an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator and I had a few suggestions for the app. The developer decided to implement these suggestions in a near future release and gave me clear answers to my questions. The app works as intended. I’ve experienced no bugs so far. I see a few users are concerned about using DNS on cellular connections. I had the same question. The app does allow you to alter DNS on in cellular. However, the DNS service you may be using might not. This is a limitation of the DNS service, not this app. I have full confidence this app will continue to mature and the dev will add more features.
This is an excellent DNS override app. Unlike many others, it actually works. It's easy to use between your iPad or iPhone, and there are a variety of different DNS profiles to choose from. You have multiple options to choose from, you can even select those with filters. You do have to pay to use certain profiles, however it's a small amount of $1.99. However I do think it would be helpful to provide a free trial, just in case the DNS profile that you choose isn't what you're looking for. Otherwise, it's an excellent app!
It is great, this app is such an important addition to your phone, you can use it easily with its simple interface and amazing instructions helper. You can choose from variety of big collection of DNS servers, that will help you either block or unblock some services and websites. For example, it is very important to use DNS that prevent adult sites if you have kids using your device, or may be you want to browse a site that is prevented due to you geographical location. I recommend this app for all whom care.
