Description

DockLock Lite locks the Dock in place with no system mods. Try the free version, then upgrade for more features. Prefer a one-time purchase? Check out DockLock+

DockLock Lite is designed specifically to prevent unwanted Dock movement across multiple screens.

Tired of your Dock jumping to the wrong screen? DockLock Lite prevents accidental Dock movement, keeping it exactly where you want it on multi-monitor setups.

When using multiple monitors, it's common to move your mouse around to locate the cursor. However, in the process, if the cursor reaches the bottom edge of an external display, macOS mistakenly triggers the Dock to move there, disrupting your workflow.

DockLock Lite eliminates this issue by keeping the Dock locked to your preferred display, ensuring a stable multi-monitor experience.

DockLock Lite is ideal if:
- You have at least two connected screens (including Sidecar iPad setups).
- Your Dock is positioned at the bottom of the screen.
- macOS option "Displays have separate Spaces" is enabled.
- You're frustrated by your Dock moving unexpectedly between screens.

Free Features (No Purchase Required)
- Prevents the Dock from jumping to other screens by locking it in place.
- With the free version, manually place the Dock on your preferred screen before launching the app.
- Runs in the background with a menu bar and Dock icon (cannot be hidden).
- No system modifications – works without altering macOS.
- Works only when the Dock is not in auto-hide mode.

Limitations in the Free Version:
- The free version locks the Dock in place but does not allow you to move it.
- The Dock is locked to all screens by default (no per-screen selection).
- No settings dialog available – the app runs with default behavior.
- Auto-start is disabled – must be launched manually.
- Keyboard modifier to allow Dock movement is unavailable.

Unlock Lite+ Features (Purchase Required)
- Lock Dock Position: Keeps your Dock fixed on the monitor you choose
- Customizable Screens: Define which monitors allow Dock movement.
- Temporary Unlock: Hold a key to move the Dock temporarily.
- Toggle Dock Locking: Enable or disable Dock locking quickly via the menu bar.
- Auto-Start at Login: Launches automatically upon system startup (requires macOS 12+).
- Discrete Operation: Optionally hide Dock and menu bar icons.
- Auto-Hide Support: Keeps the Dock locked even when in auto-hide mode.

Prefer a One-Time Purchase?
If you'd rather avoid in-app purchases, check out DockLock+, which provides the same features as DockLock Lite+ for a single upfront price. Search for "DockLock+" on the Mac App Store to find it.

Do NOT purchase DockLock Lite if:
- You only have one monitor and do not plan to use an additional display or Sidecar.
- Your Dock is positioned on the left or right side of your screen.
- macOS option "Displays have separate Spaces" is disabled.

Important Notes
- Requires at least two connected displays or i to function.
- Sidecar (iPad) counts as an additional monitor—DockLock+ will function correctly in this setup.
- Works only when the Dock is positioned at the bottom of the screen.
- Command+Tab switching remains tied to the Dock's location.
- The macOS option "Displays have separate Spaces" must be enabled for full functionality.
- DockLock Lite can only lock the Dock to screens where macOS allows it to be moved manually.
- Upgrading to Lite+ will not enable support for Dock positions on the left or right side of the screen.
- Dock locking is active only while the app is running.
- DockLock+ is a one-time purchase app with no subscription fees.
- DockLock+ and DockLock Lite+ have identical features; the difference is the payment model (one-time purchase vs. in-app purchases).

Hurrah!

Working with two monitors just got so much better! No more accidentally moving the cursor to the bottom of the second screen and watching the Dock unexpectedly jump over. The bottom edge of my secondary screen is no longer a danger zone 😂. At the same time, if I do want to move the Dock, I can do it easily with a special key, or even lock it to the secondary monitor if that’s what I prefer. Finally, I feel in control! 💪

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your awesome review! I'm glad DockLock Lite has made your dual-monitor setup so much smoother - no more 'danger zones' at the bottom of the screen! It's great to hear that the flexibility to move or lock the Dock is working well for you. Enjoy the control!

Finally we have a solution!

After years of struggling with this issue specially during screen sharing where the dock would just pop up when hovering over screen bottom, I am happy to say we have a fix in the form of DockLock. I had written feedback to apple numerous times on how annoying this was & they should fix it.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the fantastic review! I'm happy that DockLock Lite is finally fixed the issue you've been struggling with, especially during screen sharing. Your feedback to Apple highlights the need for a fix, and I'm glad the app is here to help in the meantime. Your support means a lot!

It is working for me! Free to test out

This app is successfully fixing a very specific issue in MacOS that should just be an option. I use this for my dock to be (1) visible, (2) “displays have separate spaces set to on”, and (3) fixed on the bottom of one screen. This only applies to multi-display setups.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review! I'm glad DockLock Lite is helping fix this long-standing macOS issue. If you ever use the Dock in hidden mode, upgrading to DockLock Lite+ ensures it stays locked even when hidden. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions support@docklock.pro!
