Description

Get things done by using DoNext for your Next Actions.

• Decide your Next Action: Write down the first step you can do towards a desired outcome, e.g. put "search flight to Paris" on the list "computer".
• Jump the current context by typing the initials, e.g. "c" for "computer".
• Pick what to do next.

STANDARD FEATURES

• Tap a Next Action in the list to mark it as completed.
• Next Actions are shuffled to keep you from ignoring older items. Shuffle can be switched off in the lists screen settings.
• Jump between lists: Type "o" and press "office" to switch to the list containing all office next-actions.
• Automatic clean up: Completed Next Actions disappear the next day.
• Jot down ideas on the go: Use the INBOX to decide the Next Action later.
• Go to links, edit or delete Next Actions by long-pressing.
• Use Siri Shortcuts to quickly go to a list.
• End a Next Action with "." to add it to multiple lists.

HOW DONEXT FITS IN YOUR EXISTING WORKFLOW

Ensure every Next Action in your todo list system can be done by you right now. Tasks with "organize" or "decide" could probably be broken further and more actionable. Break down your to-dos to a physical first step to avoid procrastination.
Choose the right context for your Next Actions: the location (@home), situation (@team-meeting) or person required to do the Next Action.
Plan complex Projects where you need to track more than the Next Action in a separate app. Add the to-dos to DoNext as they become Next Actions. Decide the Next Action for each item in your inbox.
Schedule time specific task with deadline in your calendar. For all ASAP tasks use DoNext. Make DoNext your major source of todos for deciding what to do next.
Working from your lists keeps your task management relevant. Next actions are cleaned up and sorted automatically in DoNext. No need for manual task order, subsequent actions, or a "today view".
Keep only Next Actions in DoNext. Use other apps for notes, due dates, reminders, project planning, task reordering, prioritization, checklists and distraction.

Streamlined and awesome.

I used Things app for years. Always focused on keeping all my tasks highly organized and categorized in projects, areas, etc. Unfortunately, I spent too much time and energy on organization instead of where I should have focused, on actually Getting Stuff Done.

Once I began using Things exclusively for actionable items, I realized that was more robust than I needed. I sought a leaner, more streamlined app to manage my ToDo list with only a minimal amount of organization. And then I found DoNext.

I appreciate the stripped-down and powerful functionality, as well as the minimal user interface. It's just what I needed to help me actively manage my ToDo list. Oh, and the recent feature of the automatic shuffling of tasks in each area helps keep the list fresh--useful for some of us who may ignore areas of the list and focus only on newly-added tasks. Stoked.
