I rarely find a tool as all encompassing and flexible as something like Drafts, but it’s that rare utility that lets you craft it into exactly the experience you want it to be while also making that relatively easy to do. Wanna work with Shortcuts? Sure. Things? No problem. Web APIs? Yeah. Need a specific setup for your editing experience, organization, exports? Covered. Being cross platform is icing on this well-conceived cake.

It’s been over ten years since i started with drafts on my computers and my devices. The fact that it syncs over the plethora of devices is almost like magic. The entries strip off formatting so i can work with just the text. It’s a fabulous capture app for data and information, writings, editing, adding markdown, and comes with handy-dandy automations for processing text and exporting. I opted to pay every year to keep these coders in biz. You can too.

The pro version makes my life easier, even if it offers far more power than I'll ever use. I also like that everything is stored in human-readable JSON files. If the app were to go away unexpectedly, there would still be the backup JSON files it makes for me. One word of warning: You might occasionally have to read the directions.

Without equivocation, I can say that this app is indispensable for me. For everything from capture to writing to output, from creativity and thinking to productivity and processing, I depend on and use Drafts throughout each day.Moreover, all of this can be accomplished without changing contexts or modes, minimizing distractions while optimizing the attention, focus, and flow required for meaningful, effective craft and work.I love Drafts!

Drafts has been on my Home Screen for as long as I can remember and it’s not going anywhere. It’s my go-to app for notes, lists, reminders… basically when I don’t know where to put something, it starts in Drafts. Fantastic automation, a community around it, and a developer truly dedicated to their craft. Thank you for such a great app.

I’ve been using Drafts since before it went to Mac, and it keeps on getting better. Some of its automation powers were out of my technical reach, so lately if been using chatGPT to compose drafts actions, and I’m getting even more out of it!
