Amazing when it works, BUT

It often is “down” for days at a time. $10 a month *might* be appropriate if it didn’t go down so often. Devs don’t reply to twitter or FB messages anymore, last fb post was over 2 years ago, emails bounce back as undeliverable. It DOES cost a lot of money for this neural networking technology & Lambda Labs would have one of the most popular apps ever if they put real time into it. There needs to be an easier way for us to delete our photos in batches. I just deleted over 100 and it took me 35 minutes. That’s ridiculous. Some might say to delete as you go, but the nature of dreamscoping causes a waiting game from minutes to hours (for paying users- it’s days to weeks for free) so you have to try many styles at once and then check back.

The description should explain how to use it. You CAN make your photos Private to start & then change to public later if desired (or vice versa) you just have to tap the world 🌎 symbol on bottom right in the processing screen before you hit “Paint and Post Privately”. To use your own photo as a Custom style, tap the photo at the bottom left of the Styles row that says “Custom filter”. That’s where the real magic of this app is.

They have something special here & hopefully they put just a little more effort into it and grow instead of abandoning it to the ether of defunct apps and the sad question of what could have been.

The Community is too uptight.

Whether it’s rallying against users for nudity, labeling them pornographers and calling for their banishment or protesting against other users for appropriating their filters labeling them thieves and causing drama in the name of social justice... this app has come too close to a social media platform and not a utility application. Most of the elderly ladies are nice but theres a few rotten apples trying to police the majority of the posters with their politics, using their prude perspectives to play overlord and dictate who should be able to and not able to use the application claiming priority because they pay for the extended version of the app. I call for the app to remove the public commenting function of the platform and reserve communications for private inboxes so old ladies cant continue on stirring up witch hunts and political correctness crusades creating drama in an artistic space. Please ban the commenting feature or offer an option to disable it. I don’t wanna block these grandmas, I enjoy their creativity in their art, they just left their wisdom at the door and it’s ruining the experience of the app for me.

I love this app, and I can truly say that the community who uses this app is made up of the most kind, supportive and encouraging artists I have yet to find in an app community. I am only about five weeks in as far as using this app so I am still learning the ropes, but bc I am a lover of filters, it has become one of my most favorite of all of the apps that I use. As a professional photographer who started out in the darkroom, it’s difficult to press a button and wait to see what happens with my original image bc I feel as though I am giving up any and all control over the end result of the photo. It would be great if there were a preview of what each filter will look like on a particular photograph rather than having to shoot in the dark each time. I do love the fact that you can see the original image and make your own custom filters. Just in the past week, this app has become sooooo slow in processing the images I put in. It takes days at times before I can see what Dreamscope and I have created. It’s causing me to not use the app as often and to use other apps such as Photo Lab Pro, which gives instant image processing.
