Exactly what you’d expect when a company has no competitors
Where to start... say you take a certain route with your kids every Monday and Thursday and would be eligible for discounts. You can log in any day except Monday or Thursday to schedule your HOV status for the upcoming week. If you happen to log in on a Monday you’re able to schedule Thursday’s status but not the following Monday. Probably worst of all is that everyone is 15 minutes delayed which is probably a coverup for some other technical limitation Cintra / LBJ won’t own up to. What would make actual sense is to use your phone’s location to determine if you’re not on the freeway in order to incentivize people to activate status. I live less than 15 minutes from the express entrance I use so if I do the right thing and activate it in my driveway on the way out the door, I get charged. The whole thing is a scam - the technology exists to overcome these ripoffs but the tollway operators care more about money than safety or fairness.
Where to start? First off, scheduling does you no good. I schedule a week in advance - every time period. The app drops the schedule on a particular period and lonand behold, you are charged full price. Customer service? FORGET ABOUT IT!!! You can’t reach a live person. The refer you to the NTTA for billing questions and guess what? They won’t deal with TEXpress issues. My best advice? SUE CINTRA for every error! That’s the only way to get their attention. Do it in small claims court - get your money back, paid for your time and trouble and they have to reimburse court costs. Not to mention they must hire an attorney. If it costs them $7K every time they rip someone off of a few dollars, they will stop.
15 minute pre-register for HOV is extremely dangerous
Where is the hands free voice activation for a traffic related app that will clearly be used while people are on a freeway? The 15 minute preregistration requirement is very dangerous if you are on I-635 in bumper to bumper traffic less than 1/2 mile prior to entrance for the HOV. A driver will NOT exit congested I-635 to go sit in parking lot to pre-register and then fight their way back through the congestion. Instantaneous registration/unregistration via hands free voice activation is needed for a much safer driving experience.
